    COP26 progress or same old

For sure, and I was not intending to criticise you. However landfill/incinerate/recycle all take it out of random environment maybe saving turtles. Unless the plastic decomposes faster or more obnoxiously in the landfill, it is producing no more pollutant than if it were strangling turtles. A...

    COP26 progress or same old

Up until a couple of years ago I used bottled water - because I like the fizzy stuff. Finally I decided that my preferences did not justify the plastic waste and started buying fizzy water in bottles. Then I figured that the transport of water and glass was too expensive for environment. I...

    COP26 progress or same old

I am not fond of ad-hominem attacks, but if he is their best proponent..... TN suggests that there are plenty of scientists that deny climate change: But neglects to mention any names. Does not seem any more persuasive than David Bellamy, I am afraid.

Your evidence is? You are entitled to your opinions. But if you make unsubstantiated claims then I am entitled to challenge them.

Sold Proxon power carver and bits.

I bought a power carver, but could not get on with it - prefer carving by hand. It has been sitting unused for a year so it will be better in the hands of someone who wants it. (see amazon listing for technical details and reviews - all links to commercial offerings are just to...

    Connecting two straps together.

Something like this: https://www.artisanleather.co.uk/equestrian-saddlery-fittings.html The nylon webbing is actually very cheap to buy. If you dont mind the colout I may have some spare. It is easy to sew.

    House Buying - Advice?

If you are purchasing for the first time, or trading up, then high prices are a worry. If you are trading down, then they are a bonus. I was told that the answer to the question 'is it a good time to buy my first house to live in?' is 'yes'. No ifs, no buts. What you might lose in...

    Cordless lawnmowers, anyone had one?

We have a Bosch power-4-all 18 (city?) mower. Feels a little plastic, but it is light and does our small lawn well. I would be happy to use it on any of the lawns I have had in the past - including some larger ones. It's narrow width and three height settings may deter you, but I like ours...

EVs again - the sensible approach

Some very good and thoughtful points there. We need mature discussion of all of them. I hope I do not stray too close to the forbidden political zone, but...... I do caution against the simplistic assumption that population growth is a root cause of the problem. I feel this is often used by...

    Fitting coving to bent ceilings?

I am not an expert - just an amateur DIY person...... but most people do not look at the ceiling. Sure the customer is going to look at it when you have just done it, and if he points it out to his friends they are going to look at it, but a year later no one will notice. Well a few people...

What is this feature in timber?

Nice bit of timber.... it would be good to see the project progress.

What is this feature in timber?

You have got me wondering now. I had assumed the dark colouration on the border between the heart and sap was a normal feature of the timber. But maybe it is fungus? That would imply that for some reason the boundary is easier to penetrate....

What is this feature in timber?

Interesting - any links to more info? I never looked as closely before - or maybe this is the first timber with the feature.
