She does not say it is all a hoax: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Curry "she accepts that the planet is warming, that human-generated greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide cause warming, and that the plausible worst-case scenario is potentially catastrophic, but on the other hand she also...

    Baking

That looks like a perfect loaf, and I bet it tastes amazing. I am not that patient, or that much of a 'bready'. My routine is mix, wait for it to rise, turn it out onto 'baking parchment' (good old grease-proofed paper), bung it in the oven in a 'dutch oven'. Time expended doing it ~ 10...

    SERPs

I am not a tax advisor. I can tell you what I experienced, though and you can draw your own conclusions. I opted out for a few years. It seems that for those years I did not make enough contributions to qualify for a full year of contributions. I needed to make up those years (though this was...

    Passwords

Yeah, proton password generator appends a number to the end of each word and recommends four words separated by your choice of spacer ( space, hyphen dot etc). Gives at least 1000 times the entropy. The ease of use (typing into phone keypad) beats the widened character set in my world. I get...

    Passwords

If you use a smaller set of characters (upper and lower case plus numbers) you can achieve the same entropy with a longer pass-phrase. The pass phrase may be easier to remember.

    Passwords

Use a password manager. I use proton pass, which I believe you can get on a free account. This will store all your passwords (secured using a single password). **Other password managers are available.** Password managers can generate new random passwords for each site, and even auto fill them...

    VPN's

Yep, happy Proton suite user here too. You can try all their products on a free tariff - limited functionality but enough to see if you like them. That is the route I took. Lots of security and secrecy wonks have endless debates on the web about the pros and cons of providers such as these...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

And 40% of money passing through tax havens goes through the City of London. Don't expect the UK government to do much about money laundering in the near future.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

The right wing economic theory always sounds to me like something out of the Bible: “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath”

Garage change of use - any pointers?

I do so love the English language. We have so many shades of meaning that we can distinguish between ‘incidental’ and ‘ancillary’ with such clarity. our current plan to make more use of the garage will not see it move (yet) from incidental to ancillary. But the work we do could be enhanced in...

Garage change of use - any pointers?

I have been trying to decipher the words on the government website. I *think* that sheds and garages are all classified as outbuildings. Changing usage between these is not an issue. The big step may come when the building becomes living accommodation. No sleeping overnight in it! Offices can...
