    Daylight saving time?

So therefore there's nothing preventing common sense.... What's wrong with GMT?

    Radio for workshop

There's an offer on Amazon at the moment for Echo Flex at £4.99. Does all the playing of music and controls but the sound is not meant for entertainment, just for interaction. However plug an auxiliary cable into any other decent sound system and it's all done. The Flex doesn't have Thermometer...

    Radio for workshop

I use Alexa on the latest Echo with built in presence sensor which turns the lights on and routines to turn the heating on and off at preset times. I also use it to command my extractor on and off, play music, answer the phone, intercom to SHMBO and also sometimes to listen to audio books, turn...

    Left Field

Not sure which category if any to post this but I think it might be an interesting thread..... Maybe. I was just sat reading the forums here and the flood reports came on the tellybox. My missus turns to me and says... "No doubt all this water will be wasted whilst the natural underground...

Sticking Vinyl flooring to a non porous wall with zero vapour glue?

Problem sorted..... I eventually settled on strips of double sided vinyl FF looking fixing tape. No pong or vapours and job done...... I've often been accused of over thinking..... Seems I did it again!

Sticking Vinyl flooring to a non porous wall with zero vapour glue?

No not an issue.. reactive asthma is a law unto itself. It's very selective and every sufferer is different. Ask any sufferer and although there are generalisations the reaction may or may not materialise depending on which molecules are available. Evostick is one of the worst in my wife's...

Sticking Vinyl flooring to a non porous wall with zero vapour glue?

I don't have a problem but the last time we tried a glue with volatiles, we went away on holiday for 3 days. The remaining vapour when we got home, made my better half ill with Asthma and she was wiped out for 4 days before she got over it. I'm not aware of any water based contact adhesive...

Sticking Vinyl flooring to a non porous wall with zero vapour glue?

Using the vinyl as a decorative wall mounted bed head. The use of a backer board is not possible in the design constraints. The wall is totally non porous too. I am unable use any glue with volatile compounds due to Reactive Asthma. Water based or low volatiles means no contact adhesives. Gluing...

    A smoking ban?

But likely for a shorter time after costing more than non smokers to the rest of us overall.

    A smoking ban?

In fact the age at which we all cost the state the most is completely irrelevant. The overall cost per lifetime is the only useful relevance. It's a bit like saving up to buy something and then spending it all at last on the thing you've been putting money away for, for so long. When you get old...

    Unflush joints with festool xl

You look as though you're batch machining. Are you perhaps placing the piece twisted over? If the pocket isn't exactly in the middle you could be accidentally causing a mismatch. If so try doing both plunges at the same time without twisting either piece over. If it still won't work then it's...

Air source Heat Pumps any good?

What an ABSOLUTE load of common sense!
  14. mc281

Air source Heat Pumps any good?

Heat pumps have a problem which seldom, if ever, gets mentioned.... The start up current is higher than the running current requirement and this surge on the mains infrastructure is very high. This causes voltage drops and pulses which affect the supply stability to surrounding homes during that...

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

No unfortunately but there is some confusion in the comments creeping in. The space, for example is not DOUBLE the size and was never suggested as such. The space as already mentioned is mostly to contain the rest of the gubbins contained within the 'lid'.... gloves, spreader, hardener tube etc...

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

The lid is intentionally tight to make sure it won't open to easily.

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

No... I'm telling you that the resin mix contains highly volatile chemicals with high vapour content which causes pressure in the tin. The greater volume available for expansion of same prevents the increased temperature dependent pressure from blowing the lid off.

Rebuilding old shed - roofing question

My shed has an almost flat roof and was a real PIA until I had heavy flame gun felt put on. The guy who did it owned a local well respected roofing company and told me to expect 20 years minimum! That was 15 years ago and it still looks as though it was put on yesterday. It gets full sun for 18...

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

It's to accommodate the rest of the tin, not shown in your pic. Also to allow for the expansion during temperature changes in storage not blowing the two parts apart.
