How do these cuts not cause kick back?

Last week my table saw reminded me just how powerful and vicious it can be. I was distracted for moment by someone whilst finishing a cut. Next thing the push-stick was ripped out of my hand and punched me square in the chest with the force of a decent punch. Needless to say I was not happy...

Aldi Bandsaw ( new model) coming soon. Buy it or choose other model

Given the grief Aldi must receiving re damages, I hope it doesn't dissuade them from offering larger items like this. The tools may not not have the name, but as long as expectations are reasonable, items like the bandsaw are very good value and will perform well with right blades, and introduce...

    Scary robot video.

Maybe not full AI, yet. I'm very much 'glass-half-empty' on this, particularly when you consider the cretins and psychopaths who currently lord over us (and not just in the UK). Where is the fundamental benefit to you or I from creating what is effectively another life-form? Which is what a full...

    Torch treated wood . . .

you mean torch it for the insurance:oops: but no if was bought treated it's not suitable as Ollie says, not sure if arsenic is still used but you don't want to be torching it. Besides to do it the wood has to be on fire for a short period. Someone would call the fire brigade or the men in white...

    Recommendations for a can opener

Definitely not a wood-working related post, but does anyone have a recommendation for a can opener? Preferably electric and easy-to-use, but a good mechanical one would be ok as well. For relatives with ageing hands etc. Had several in the past and they just don't last or are difficult to use...

    Name this switch

Thanks all. It was the red 'off' switch causing the issue. Anyways, gave both switches a good clean with some air and spray ptfe and it's now working again so a good result. I'd just got the point where I thought another bit needed replacing, especially after not initially realising there was a...

    Name this switch

Anyone know where a replacement on of these could be found or parts to make an equivalent? It's from an multico bandsaw I'd just got working and now the switch has packed up. All four contacts are used with both leads from each part of the switch going to the same connector in a separate...

How to cut brass discs with woodworking tools

just a thought but you could use an angle grinder stand with a 1mm cut-off disc to cut the brass. May take some fettling to make a hold-down etc. A mini chop saw if you like. If you use pre-drilled bar stock as already mentioned, then you drill a hole in one part of the stick, turn a tenon on...

Novice question for edge gluing boards

Along with above advice if getting a good square edge is difficult there is alternate method, though not to everyone's taste. Fold two boards together so one face side is facing the ceiling the other face facing the floor, use your straightest board as a guide and use a circular saw trim a few...

Repaired a Multico tbs350 aka pro-mex bandsaw now need drive belt sizes

Thanks, will do. New belts should turn it into a fairly capable machine, as far as can be, as it has a 750w motor and the frame is nearly 3mm thick, having had Heath cut into it. There's an Axminster clone on ebay at the moment with a 375w motor.

Repaired a Multico tbs350 aka pro-mex bandsaw now need drive belt sizes

Thanks for the replies, it's a 2 wheel model with 14" wheels. Looks identical to the Aximinster awsbs3 and similar to the Record bs300. It's dated 1988 so not surprising there's little on the web about them, but looks they've been copied/cloned by other manufacturers. May well end up measuring...

Repaired a Multico tbs350 aka pro-mex bandsaw now need drive belt sizes

Spent a few hours bringing back into use on old Multico tbs350 bandsaw. The motor and all the bearings are perfectly good so didn't want to just scrap it. It needed a new post for the upper guides and the upper wheel tensioner fixing. It's now working and cutting straight, for anything around an...
