    Good quality hide glue

Or you could prepare it then dry it. Or grind it into a fine powder making it more evenly mixed. Not UK but direct from the maufacturer: http://www.amstelproducts.nl/en/5/products/product/technical-gelatin-hide-glue/10 Available in "Big bags 1000 kgs with PE Liner, or 25 kg paper bags on...

    Long Straight Edge options?

Perhaps make one, actually 3 then each one will be dead straight, (check all 3 against each other). Would be limited by how bendy they are though.

    Holy mother, timber is expensive!

Often than not, a finished product is cheaper than the materials you can buy as a retail consumer.

    Very sad news

Err..he chose that life, and could've walked away if he didn't like it. Same goes for all the other royals, even those born into it could've stayed out of he public eye and lived a private life if they wanted to.

    First import from the EU

The EU itself has diplomatic missions and ambassadors all over the world, all enjoying full diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations! Make of that what you will.

    Good quality hide glue

I found this from a search: https://www.marquetrycentre.com/portfolio/test-material/ It claims: "La Colle is a superior glue of higher quality than commonly sold hide glue, pearl glue or bone glue. This high-grade protein glue is a mix of various grades of hide glues and bone glues that have...

    Mid range/budget chisels

Ashley Iles are not "budget" but the OP said they're willing to go to £50 for 2 chisels or £100 for a "set". "Budget, mid-range" to me would be about £10-15 each.

    Buyer Beware

As mentioned, this is a secondhand item from a third party seller on Amazon. The review should be left for the seller, not on the product page. With items where you have to depend on the brand and you can't really tell what's the quality or if it's fake, eg electronic goods, I always buy from...

    Customs declarations and brexit

I would think you can leave a lot of the questions blank, simply because you don't have a passport/ID number, or you just don't know. Same goes for tariff numbers, country of origin etc. It looks like the form is what couriers use, the Royal Mail form is much simpler.

    Mid range/budget chisels

Ashley Iles chisels are UK made and are about £25 each.

    Customs declarations and brexit

The Channel Islands have never been in the EU, they're not even in the UK! Last year I sent a package to the US. The only difference compared with posting to the UK is the CN22 form. I even messed up by not filling in the "total" but it still got there. If an Ebay seller states they post to...

Challenge - 18th century transport box design and materials?

For the lightest weight, I'd go for an inner decorative wooden box which looks nice to hold and to present the items, and which does not need to be strong, and an outer cardboard box to provide protection. A cardboard box can be very strong whilst being relatively lightweight, eg the boxes that...

    First import from the EU

That is actually EU law that UK has decided or had to keep, came into effect on 1 Jan 2021. From 1 July 2021 (delayed from 1 Jan 2021) EU countries will have the same rule, non-EU sellers will have to collect VAT and send it to the EU buyer's goverment for orders of under 150 Euro.

    First import from the EU

The sister-in-law in Felixstowe sending it to Italy should have been correctly declared as a gift, I would have thought.

    Dust rant

All these programmes are entertainment human interest shows in the form of competitions and makeovers for a general audience. If you want instructions or "how it's done", you'd need to go to Youtube, even there it's mostly cr*p.
