Some more questions re. shed

If in doubt, look at Mikes build or ask Mike. Neither of which are here. From what I can see in his photos he folded the membrane over for the bottom of the window but not the sides. You can drop him a PM at the other place and he'll only be too glad to help.

    MFT Question

mrmdf is what they are made from for festool and what people like @petermillard made a living using without issue for all sorts of jobs.

    Steve's workbench build

Ahh my apologies I thought you meant 15mm per pass. I should have thought really as a 45mm deep housing is probably overkill! The middle chunk will likely pop out easily enough with the outside done.

    Steve's workbench build

Steven, your youtube links are borked somehow. The tags you've used are but ned to be if you can be arsed to change them all! Neil, I did my housings by hand and used a hand router, but your plan should be fine. You could at least be able to do around the sides easily enough...

    MFT Question

Most dogs don't protrude under the MFT, but if you use some clamps like the Festool ones then they obviously need a bit of room to waggle under the top. I don't cover mine with anything other than tools 🤣 . When I made mine I just put some 3x2 around all 4 sides and added 2 as supports...

    Which Domino

Regarding the DF500 with the free systainer of domino's, Warren at tool fest just emailed me back and said they have enough on order to fulfil back orders and will leave the offer running for the time being, but it might get pulled later if they are over subscribed. No eta on when it'll come in...

    Which Domino

I'm sure Peter Parfitt said he never uses it on anything but the snug setting. He actually did an excellent 40 minute video on the 500 just a week or so ago.

    Which Domino

Oh yes sorry, I added a 5m d27 hose as I also have the ts55. The slippery slope has begun.

    Which Domino

Based on the videos I've seen of people making the kinds of things I want to make similarly using 18mm boards, I opted for the 500 Q-Set from toolfest which apparently will include a free 498899 Domino Assortment Systainer. I'd never head of them, but someone else on here recommended them. I...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Ahh OK. It's gone beyond the point I'm willing to go anyway for now so I'll let this one pass me by. I knew exactly where he'd gone, this isn't the first time! A shame for the forum to be honest. The amount of questions he's answered for me alone must be in the hundreds already and he's so...

planer or thicknesser first or planer thicknesser?

No need to glue it, just put a stop at the end to prevent it shifting down the sled. I've seen sled designs that are just a board with wedges all the way up to huge ones that had about 20 screw adjustable wedges for lots of points of contact on a large board.

House dust extractor outside? Lean to?

Learn it isn't the question, learning how to pronounce it and all the other ones that defy belief is!

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

The listing says its been serviced but it's interesting you say that it's cast aluminium and not iron. The listing says iron and the only other one I've seen (well actually, on YouTube it was John McGraths 1619) seemed to be iron for the main and sliding table. He was comentign on the weight of...

House dust extractor outside? Lean to?

"you aint stickin that noisy great thing out there, where's Niamh going to play on the swing?" Is putting it the ceiling above you not an option?

    Table saw, router, neither, both.

Spoken like a man who's never held a router when it wanted to go! £340 would get you a triton tracksaw (unlike my titan the triton has soft start and speed control), evolution 2.8m tracks, and the erbauer 1/2 router (which also has soft start), spend another £20 on a freud blade or similar and...

planer or thicknesser first or planer thicknesser?

As others already said, a lunchbox planer with a sled upon which you can place wonky (technical term) board to will act as a planer and you can then send it through again to thickness it. It won't joint an edge, but a tracksaw can do that.

    Some more questions re. shed

Bit late but given you're going with waney edge larch on the walls and in a AONB, I'm surprised you'd go with either over something like cedar shingle or slate/fibre cement slate. What did you choose in the end?

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Finally the cladding is complete. It started on September the 1st so a little longer than I'd like, but work and a lack of materials stuffed that up! With all of it I only cut ONE board too short. I don't even know how. It was one of the ones for the rear gable end. I think it should have been...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

Yeah Its easy to assume that all 3 phase must therefore be 415 volt, or that a 3 phase motor that can also run 240v means you could just plug it into the wall 🤣 @Ttrees posts on the subject have been illuminating, especially for the Startrite 275 as he also has one. This one is currently at...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

From my understanding Some 3 phase motors can be switched between star and delta, so can run at 240v or 415v, but still 3 phase. A cheap vfd can convert 240v regular to 240v 3 phase, but it can't also bump it up to 415v. That's in the realm of more expensive gear. A 3 phase motor in star...
