    Dust Extractor

The dx5000 is a hplv vac so you don't need to worry as much about reducing it down. A cyclone will also have less suction loss on it than it does on a lphv extractor. Bigger pipes will better but you're still limited to the 100mm inlet in your vac.

    The wonder of the domino

My time at home is more valuable to me than anything. I have to travel away from home for work and so for 12-14 days a month I'm not at home, not with my wife and my daughter and missing out as a result. It's work that pays well and I can do in my sleep (I broadcast the Premier League and other...

    The wonder of the domino

Why is speed not important at home? Why is a power tool that can do something faster and more repeatedly than other options somehow frowned upon when many of us have home workshops filled with routers, bandsaws, table saws, tracksaws, bench drills etc, many of which for many people cost more...

    Dust extraction, system build?

If you are only going to make it that large, use as much rigid pipe as possible and use as little flex hose as possible. At the end of the day the connection to the small tool will be the limiting factor as you're not going to have a 100mm opening on a tracksaw for example. Mattias just did a...

Workbench tops what material HDF?? MDF Ply

It all depends how careful you are setting the depth of your blade. If you put 3mm protectors on but set the depth overly deep you'll still mark it. I know @petermillard routes a groove in his to put some sacrificial 6mm MRMDF that can be replaced. I just moved my top over to the left by 150mm...

It would have been following int he format of bake off which has similar and is mildly popular. They get to be the regular joe that can't dream of doing that kind of work.

Wonky door frame - what to do?

Is that a 10mm out over a 300mm run? Your house is drunk! Given the other works going on surely putting in a new liner would make sense? You can make sure its square and plumb and then the door is easier to fit too. How out of plumb is the side? The photo has your squares bubble off to the...

Workshop - block or wood ? humidity worries..

Consider that the area restrictions on meeting building regs is related to internal area. If the max it can be outside is 4.4x3.8, with 100mm walls (of whatever construction), you're now only at 4.2x3.6 which is 15.12m2. A gnats fart over the 15m2. The 2m restriction applies to planning regs and...

Workbench tops what material HDF?? MDF Ply

Mine was just a MFT replacement top to the standard sizes, about £40? Nothing custom about it, but there are plenty of places that will do custom orders to the sizes you want and don't have those kind of minimum orders.

Workshop - block or wood ? humidity worries..

When the space is something that is already in existence I understand trying to make it work for you. I have to confess that I can't understand purposefully spending the time effort and money to build something from scratch that you know can give you issues from the very start. If you want to...

Dust hose adaptor problems - be gone!

Oh no, I will make it to the dimensions asked for! A 2mm difference in diameter is asking to be clogged up with dust even if most of it ends up in the cyclone bucket. As with all adapters you could heat it up to persuade it to fit. Its heated to 200c to melt the filament anyway so warming it up...

Workbench tops what material HDF?? MDF Ply

The dude that made the "pretty" bench would probably say that your 3 motorcycles are unesssasary. Or maybe he wouldn't judge what others put in their own space for their own needs quite as harshly as you seem to have done.

    The wonder of the domino

It's one of the few tools you can get most of your money back on if you sell it on, and all I hear is that you find new uses for it when you on one and that it's very fast for lots of jobs. When the time you get in a workshop is limited I get why people want one, especially as you can get most...

Sip 01446 12" Table saw details, repairs and review

Emails sent off for some parts, most should be covered by the £45 the guy knocked off of the price. Blade guard, riving knife and securing plate, all the parts for the micro adjust (bar the actual handle which is discontinued for reasons), new belt, and finally the "spanner shaft" that is used...

Dust hose adaptor problems - be gone!

That all makes sense, this is why we have to be very specific! I've no idea how I'd sell you this as I'm fairly sure the forum don't allow it. Maybe @Angie or @MikeK can clarify.
