Sip 01446 12" Table saw details, repairs and review

Ah yes that's a much better system. On this and I'm guessing the 10" version (and many other saws), you lower the handle at the front and all it does is pull a lever at the other end of the fence tight. That in effect pins the front and back to the two rails in whatever alignment they happen...

So it is a target after all :ROFLMAO:

Sip 01446 12" Table saw details, repairs and review

When you slide it along the rear can lag a fraction. Because it then gets pinned in place when it locks, it can remain out of square. I'm clearly going to have to use it for a while anyway so maybe I'll be OK with it. But you shouldn't have to lift anything up or worry about it. It should be...

List your tweaks, I'm not certain on this fence as I'm able to lock it out of square easier than I'd like. Why they persist with fences that lock front and back I don't know.

Dust hose adaptor problems - be gone!

Since this is still the most recent 3d printing thread (maybe we just need a thread all about it?) my new (old) tablesaw needed a new motor fan. So I drew one up and printed it off. Quite pleased with this one.

Sip 01446 12" Table saw details, repairs and review

Ohh thats a much nicer saw than this one Tom, it's got trunnions and everything! Home made fan printed and fitted. A 10x15mm strip of masking tape was used to just thicken the spindle enough to be a nice friction fit. I probably could have designed something into the fan to help with that...

Sip 01446 12" Table saw details, repairs and review

Well today I finally got the saw back up on its legs. First up was to print the new fan for the motor. I got fancy and made a proper one but I made the blades a bit to thin so I printed it a second time. While that was going (8 hours) I took the cabinet apart further, it was the only way I was...

    Dust Extractor

Oh no that's an air quality monitor. Already got one of those. Same one as Peter in fact.

Workbench / Assembly Table (mostly power tool use, particularly Festool Domino use)

I'll be interested to hear how you struggled for accuracy on the mft. We're you not getting square cuts or we're things too long or something?

    New table saw advice please...

For what it's worth I just bought a 12" cast iron sip that's about 5 years old (I think) for £700. Keep your eyes peeled for used saws. There was a kity 1619 for sale on here just the other day I think for say £450 maybe?

    Dust Extractor

Never Pete I love to add new into to the arsenal! How does the pitot staic measure correctly when speeds are different in different parts of the duct (slow sidewall air vs fast core air) I have 4 stainless steel bbq burners that I bought to replace the ones on mine that had rotted. They are...

    Dust extraction and track-saws

Something else to consider when taping up that bolt hole is that you just covered up a way for air to get into the machine. If air can't get it it can't get out which means it can't carry any dust with it.

    Dust Extractor

Have a delivery coming from them today in fact. The problem is @Inspector that you can go so far down the rabbit hole and still never get to the point where you have a perfect system. The safest bet is to assume that you always need a mask anyway and then do what you can with the extraction to...

    The wonder of the domino

Nope. I ordered one from toolfest (part of bunnies bolts) at the start of October and they've not had any delivered since then. apparently some surprise XLs appeared a week ago but apart from that no ETA from Festool.

Workshop - block or wood ? humidity worries..

Upon what would the insulation sit? It's rigid and needs a flat surface.

Kitchen worktop clamps - I feel that I'm missing something?

I've had to partially dismantle a few kitchens before now and if the joint had been glued it would have been a PITA to get that bit of worktop out. There is also just little need. The clamps will hold it. The biscuits are just there for alignment so again glue isn't doing anything. I never...

Kitchen worktop clamps - I feel that I'm missing something?

That's what I mean, if you cut a 20mm hole in 29mm worktop you've got 9mm left but your bolts will sit flush with the underside. Just cut them 15mm deep and it'll work fine. You seemed concerned that if the bolt was not on the vertical centreline of the joint that it would cause a problem. My...

Kitchen worktop clamps - I feel that I'm missing something?

You got any spare bits kicking around you can play with? The bolts are long enough that it shouldn't be a major issue if rather than insetting them 20mm they are only inset 15mm. That force is getting transferred through the remaining material in a cone shape just like a normal clamp The hole...

    Dust Extractor

A LPHV generally looks a bit like this in different sizes. They scream a bit less than your dx5000 and my dx4000, can shift a lot more air but cannot cope when they are restricted down to smaller diameter pipes or have long runs with flexible pipe that will sap airflow. Indeed another issue is...
