The Build Begins (Workshop in Garage)

I have the plug ready to go, just not sure if I can be bothered! The switch is right next to the door and with no windows its literally pitch black in there with no lights on anyway! Its not like a little lamp in the corner of the room that you can't be bothered getting up to turn off, if I turn...

A question of construction and materials.

Your achitect will tell you whats viable, but I don't think I'd bother with block and then frame the outer. IF you wanted to get really fancy you might brick plinth, frame above with insulation between and then insulated plasterboard the inside which will bridge the cold spots. May be required...

    Dust Extractor

Mayo your replies are in the thread above my post, that's what I was replying to. Most of these machines are made in the same factory with different branding slapped on the side. Most can easily just be flipped over with no issue either as I mentioned. Most 2.2kw machines should be similar...

The Build Begins (Workshop in Garage)

Typically the panel itself just has a lead with a locking barrel connector on the end. The panel will come with the little box (typically a 240v ac to 12v dc transformer) that connects to the barrel connector at one end and will usually have live and neutral tails hanging out, or terminals to...

    Electrics upgrade cost?!

My electrician charged me £225 for the day to wire in the new board to my workshop, connect the other end of the swa to the house and connect all the sockets, heater light circuit and test/cert it all about a month ago. All the grunt work like cable pulling and box mounting was already done with...

    Dust Extractor

Yeah the dx5000 is very similar to my dx4000 just with a bag rather than a bin. It's for small tools really though its sold as if its for machines. As for the draper, I'm guessing its made in the same factory as so many others. At worst I've got a 3hp motor with a snail attached to start on...

    Going rate for foreman

I'm hoping given everything else going on that HMRC have forgotten all about the IR35 implimentation that was postponed in March due to COVID. It was a hot mess before they postponed it anyway so needed fixing.

    Dust Extractor

@Mayo Dave Interesting that Itech claim 5000m3 an hour while Axminster only claim 3000m3 an hour for same same 2.2kw. Not nearly enough transparency on how they come up with these numbers. I'd love to be able to test them all! Both should be similar enough, and naturally both should be better...

A question of construction and materials.

The Hardiboard @Sheptonphil used would probably sort you for cladding purposes. Just bang it up, no need to paint it or maintain it.

The Build Begins (Workshop in Garage)

Do us a favour. Cut one that's 60cm long, put 2 screws in it and hang from it. I'm sure it won't move. Edit: Sorry Bill i got you and artie mixed up!

The Build Begins (Workshop in Garage)

Honestly I'm sure 12mm would be fine. Hell you could probably hang cupboards from it with no issue at all. Remember that wall cleats often end up being a very 2d solution. Not that there is any reason to be like that really, just how it often ends up.

The Build Begins (Workshop in Garage)

You are not alone in engaging brain at level 6 when you really just needed it barely warmed up on level 1. I do that ll the time! Honestly I don't know. I used 18mm shuttering ply as I had a bit knocking about. Realistically you could probably hold most stuff up just fine with 6mm or something...

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

No floor matting in here at this point. Just the slab, 60mm of insulation and then a floating 22mm chipboard floor on top of that.

DBT85s Workshop - Moved in and now time to fit it out

On that subject, I've just won a never used 3hp/2200w extractor on ebay for £205. least I can find them new for is over £350 and more often over £450. Have already asked a filter company about proper filters for it. @Inspector will be proud 🤣

    Festool Clamps losing "grip"

Not got any of the Festool ones but the cheap ones I bought had one like it out of the box. A file and 2 minutes to file some lines on one face and the problem was solved.

    Fitting electric cooker query

I could write a post longer than that with the things I still havn't finished, put right or neatend up. Only been 4 years :P 99% of people would look at it and think its perfect though so yeah, its nice. Very fortunate!
