    Router table flatness

I've no doubt you are right. If it did they would have found a better faster consistent way of doing it. I'm sure I heard that BMW used to do it with their old turbo engine blocks at the time when they'd rank the boost on an engine for Quali, hit 1500hp and, maybe, last 2 laps.

    MFT - wossit all about?

This is madness. That's exactly why I just took the pain and bought the 3m rail too.

    Spiral Upcut Router Bits

Not sure I've seen anything really political there. However there is nothing unfortunate in being aware of social injustice, racial prejudice and discrimination across all people. Unless of course you are using the term woke in the same perjorative way that tangerine trump did.

    Onging sheet prices

Since the prices of all tree based entertainment are higher than they once were I thought I'd start a thread where I and hopefully others can share what they are paying and for how much. Naturally if you are buying 40 sheets at once the prices are going to be better than us mortals buying 4 or...

    MFT - wossit all about?

The problem is that they are all trying to compete with everyone else selling the same rebadged churned out crap at the same price point. Nobody wants to charge 5-10% more to make improvements as they will be worried people won't pay the extra. In addition, if you're the only one asking for...

    MFT - wossit all about?

Terry, this is why many of us have it in some kind of assembly table or outfield table or whatever, it's just there when you need it and when you don't, it's still fine for many other tasks. One might say it was multifunctional.

    Track saw - T55 or Mafell MT55

While I have not used my ts55 on solid wood, I doubt with the correct blade that you'd be disappointed at all with either. You're probably looking at the 8.8/10 and the 9/10 options in the market (on the understanding that 10/10 doesn't really exist). Availability might be a factor right at the...

    MFT - wossit all about?

It doubles as a workbench top for anything else you are doing, be that finishing or painting or whatever and as you've now seen, they are sacrificial but we're talking years of use on one side and then just flip it over. If you were making say, an outfeed table for your table saw, you could...

    MFT - wossit all about?

Have you tried watching a video from someone who actually knows what they are doing with one? Mr Millard perhaps? I mean it's clear you don't like them and I'm not sure that you want to like them and that's fine. I just tend to focus my efforts on things I actually am interested in rather than...

    Festool ts55 advice

I opted to get a 3m rail rather than an extra 1400 rail and joining it to the one I had or buying 2 rails to join together. Plenty do exactly as Adam does and just join 2 with no issues.

    Festool ts55 advice

Likely just the 110v new because the 240v ones are short supply and 110v are not and that short supply has driven prices up. Right now the best I can find is about £120 over the £400 I paid for a TS55 with 1400 rail maybe not quite 18 months ago. One reason to drop the extra for the Festool is...

Adapt and Survive. In woodwork as well.

Incredible that you have shown such perseverance not only to keep up after your eye issues but I couldn't get my very computer literate dad aged 65 to work a CNC so to see someone only 5 years younger than HIS dad use one is incredible. With regard to your sight, does it help if you run your PC...

    Fine air filter

An engine is far less concerned about getting 10 micron contaminants in than your lungs are. An air filter for engines is to keep the bigger stuff out that is going to ruin the engine. What's the intended use?

    Blast Gate Siteing

In an ideal world there would be the minimum amount of pipe volume between each outlet, so you'd have a blast gate at the branch as it comes off of the mainline. But that doesn't always work practically The more pipe volume and therefore joints and connections you have the more likely it is you...

    Wireless radiator valves.

Absolutely and its a great system, I had it on my old house but with a gas boiler. The problem is for some reason in the UK it did not take off anything like it has on the continent. People wanted radiators at 60, 70 or even 80C(!) and if the radiator was only warm, it must not be working, even...

    Wireless radiator valves.

True, but since they are already trvs it won't go too crazy as the valve will control the temperature. Sort of. Also the boost on the rad is only for 2 hours and you can disable it if you have particularly fiddly kids. Mine doesn't know that they do anything yet, other than go grunt in the...

    Router table flatness

Nothing to worry about then imo. Your router plate is the reference surface and it is flat and .25mm above anything else.

    Wireless radiator valves.

Added a second room stat and everything is still trundling along nicely. Being able to leave the office temp at 17c and crank it up for 2 hours when I know I'm going to be in there is nice. Similarly when you know you're out later than normal and you want your bedroom to still have a bit of...

    Router table flatness

a quarter of a mm over a metre is not something I'd be worried about. Have you hung the router on it yet? have you used the other edge of the straight edge? When you say the plate cutout is humped, are you saying the edge of the cutout is higher than the area between the cutout and the edge of...

What do you use to clean your bits?

Mucoff bike cleaner (the pink one) works well for my bits and blades but a chap I know that covers many many miles on a bike says he just uses screwfix's own degreaser/crap cleaner and even dilutes it. No idea if that will work on the router bits and stuff though.
