    Guns,guns, and more Guns

This clearly isn't just about laws and the number of guns, either legally registered or otherwise. This is also a culture and mindset thing as much as anything. The US has an average of 1.2 guns per person with the next in line (from a global perspective) being the Falkland Islands at an...

    Guns,guns, and more Guns

That's a headline from Sky from over 11 months ago of which you conveniently ignore the entire context of homicides dropping by 16% and violent crime by 26% within that same period. I also find it strange that the Met doesn't distinguish between air-powered firearms and the traditional...

    Guns,guns, and more Guns

They often resign in signifiant numbers from fire arm / SO duty when investigations are under way and especially when charges are brought against another officer. Can't say I blame them, a lot of responsibility is placed in these officers in those situations.

Plane blade edge from a Tormek?

Again I agree but my point was that for some people that is not always true, the sliding scale of doing this for enjoyment and doing it to pay the bills puts a different spin on it across that spectrum.

Plane blade edge from a Tormek?

To be fair, I must admit the strop on the Tormek earns its keep. If I was at the start of all this again and knowing what little I know, I'd probably advise myself to grab a large diameter CBN wheel, some stones and a strop. I'd also probably tell the past me to avoid sharpening jigs for use...

Plane blade edge from a Tormek?

I agree but that's not always the case for everyone though, some people enjoy the entire process of using hand tools from sharpening to making. Sometimes the making can be more monotonous than the sharpening itself.

Plane blade edge from a Tormek?

In response to the original post, something that often can get missed in discussing the Tormek is how much time it sucks from your life. I've had a T7 for some time now and whilst I have no intention of kicking it out the door anytime soon I can't say it's a pleasurable use of my time. It is...

And do you really need that guard on the table saw if you go that route, I mean really, what use is it?

Hand Plane setup, sharpening & how to plane properly - in person course

All this talk about plane use but the real question is, what is the best way to sharpen a blade? Discuss......

Any must watch woodworking documentary movies?

Sam Maloof: My Last Days? Only a short but worth watching. His chairs go for a small fortune these day (Sam Maloof: Works for Sale, Upcoming Auctions & Past Results) and they have his work in the Smithsonian. Even chairs with a Maloof inspiration to the design go for huge amounts of money.

Passport number for deliveries from Europe!

Thanks for this, appreciated. Looks like they have sent the item without my number and a tracking code is now in the system so it should be on its way. I suspect customs UK side will ask me to confirm and pay up when it hits UK shores.

Passport number for deliveries from Europe!

They say they have shipped it now (without me giving details), wait and see I guess. I'll update if I have more.

Passport number for deliveries from Europe!

It's an optical instrument (the business end of a telescope basically). They have said that an ID number will also be adequate. Normally I'd steer clear and ask for my cash back but I'm sure I've heard something similar in the past which is why I'm checking just in case.

Passport number for deliveries from Europe!

Hmm, me neither. I seem to remember someone mentioning it in the past, hence asking the question but wanted to check if anyone had heard of it before.

Passport number for deliveries from Europe!

Having something shipped from Italy and the seller has asked for my passport number or ID number (whatever that is) in order to complete the customs side of things. I know Brexit caused some issues and extra steps in this but has anyone seen this before?

Woodpeckers Woodworking T-Square - 600mm is BACK IN STOCK!

I bought one of these a few years back for the simple reason you can set square yourself should it come out of it during use or being dropped. Lovely piece of kit.
