    Guns,guns, and more Guns

 In your opinion, the thread went off topic so you thought you would do everyone a favour by opening a door onto your anti-vaccine narrative by way of bringing the pharmaceutical industry into a gun discussion?

    Recommendation for security cameras

If you mean trail cams, some have live view now.

    Recommendation for security cameras

This would be my worry, it's clearly not a deterrent but if obvious they will likely be immobilised or removed. Perhaps have some cheap dummy LED cameras in view and have less obvious units doing the real recording. Chances are if someone see the more visible units and does something to them...

    What’s with this Scam?

I suspect it's quite common, it's also often joked about the fear by some woodworkers that when they pass their widows may sell their 'toys' for the price they told them they bought them for. That's got to impact separations as well. I've known people spilt and they just want their partners...

    Joke thread

Don't throw the towel in, we can all be keyboard warriors at some point in the discussion, the worst that happened is the joke probably got read by more people in the end. Don't be offended, it's all good and forgotten about by the end of the week. Stick around :)

    What’s with this Scam?

In fairness there are plenty of woodworking machines that get bought and sold at unrealistically low prices and sometimes by people unaware of the value or perhaps its rarity at the time of purchase. Some of these situations become threads on woodworking forums like this one. Just think they...

    What’s with this Scam?

That's a tad harsh, I see it as scammers don't deserve to get away with it as opposed to people being dumb enough to fall for it being fair game.

    Recommendation for security cameras

Consider looking at live view trail cameras. They are robust, high quality, operational in low light, built to be fitted externally long term with battery and have local storage with the better ones having live view. Depends if you want an obvious deterrent or not. Just another option to...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

I stand corrected. I knew the distance selling regs didn't cover competitive bids, but understood the application of Consumer Contract Law would. I'll another read later but good to know if the case.

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

Given its ebay, in addition to the Consumer Rights Act (2015) I suspect a lot the legislation will be based on distance selling and consumer contract law such as; The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 There is a chunk of legislation in there...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

Agreed, you got me but pure semantics in terms of enforcing a situation. Clearly if you are in legal proceedings the chances of following through with the exchange of goods and finances are fairly moot. However you could also technically request commitment to that agreement if those damages were...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

They do now allow sharing of contact telephone details prior to and post sale however the two parties need to opt-in to this option on their account settings. They also need to accept that their comms could be monitored and any attempt to complete a sale out of ebay will be actioned on. They...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

A seller can list and sell whatever they want so long as they comply with the conditions of selling. They have no obligation to 'understand they can’t sell something for £1k without people wanting to see it before paying'. Value is subjective anyhow. Yes, technically a buyer can pull out anytime...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

I once sold a Disco 1 on ebay many years ago, it looked absolutely lovely and was in perfect working order but just turned out to be an eternal money pit. When I advertised the listing, I was very clear and the item description actually said it was a complete money pit that would rob the...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

Personally I'd wait for comms until any payment is made, you are not asking much for open comms post auction and its not that rude in itself for them to ignore you. I'd contact ebay and raise your concerns, that way you will have some protection against a mark against your account if the sale...

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

To note, the registered ebay address and collection address are not always the same. Also the money back eligibility covers industrial machinery but not industrial construction machinery hence the advice to use the item number in a recorded chat session to confirm that eligibility.

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

Ask for an invoice and in that ask reiterate your previous request on the condition of the machine, you are merely asking them to confirm. Ask for a contact number and / or location details advising that you will explore your own collection as an option. Yes it should have been done before...
