    Luban Chinese Block Plane

This isn't a Chinese government or nation thing, this is a commercial and operating territory thing. Commercial entities across the globe use manufacturing territories pretty much wherever they want, including UK and US based companies. Sure, China may facilitate cheap labour and lower working...

    Luban Chinese Block Plane

You seriously think that the West's irresponsible attitude to manufacture and profit stopped in 1840? Really?

    Lie Nielsen tools

That's not a profit calculation. I agree you can't tell everything from the posted accounts of a limited company, so why go on to make specific negative claims that can't be extracted from those accounts? No disrespect to yourself meant but it's a tad irresponsible to comment on the viability...

    Luban Chinese Block Plane

A lot to unpack in this thread but basically; no one country is in any position to dictate a commercial moral high ground over any other, irrelevant of whether that's predicated on the use of cheap materials, cheap labour or cheap environmental & safety measures. We all live in countries that...

How do you know you're getting old...

You know you are getting old when you comment on an online woodworking forum about how you know when you are getting old.

    Protection against sea air corrosion

Read the SDS on T9 before you start using it. Fantastic stuff but use with caution and make sure you have good ventilation when applying. Any bike chain or running gear maintenance lube will also do the job, it's meant to be a dry lubricant and leave a film. That said, cyclists also use T9.

    Fence for Table Saw

Contact some of the UK plastics stockists telling them you want a a narrow piece 600mm long, they will have offcuts that they will happily take your money to ship.

    Fence for Table Saw

UHMW sheet is what you want. You used to be able to buy ideal sized strips from the likes of Axminster but not sure they do them anymore, perhaps look at the other usual suspects. This is what they use OEM and the accessory suppliers like Incra.

    ECOCHIP

As above, avoid. You are not going to get adaptive ECU remapping on the fly from that small box at that low cost. I suspect it's an OBD2 connector with a LED on it. What you are buying is marketing budget. Lose some weight from your right foot, quicker and cheaper.

    Bargain of the day!

I used to share your concerns but have started using it more and more recently. As long as you don't mind waiting for the item/s it's no different to any other online transaction really. Whilst they host many sellers, the transaction goes through aliexpress and its all secure. You get very...

Tell me what your choice would be!

I'd go with the Record. I wouldn't let the extra 350W the Lumberjack claims be a deciding factor personally. If you want 'out-of-the-box' working and a reliable source to resolve any issues if they arise, Record is probably your route. Make sure you fill in all relevant registration details...

    Work bench design

You don't need birch, just grab some structural ply from your local Wickes at £40 a sheet. You have one out in Haverfordwest area. They show no stock at present but all the other Welsh stores do, drop them a call and ask if and when they are due in? Quarter it, glue it with buckets of water as...

    Work bench design

Would make sense to have a basic bench to assist in making that one up there though ^. My point is, just build it and progress. You can always take it up a notch but that can often result in things never happening. Agree with the comments from others, avoid the thru-studs and bolts. Over...

    Is my router good enough?

Same here with issues with Triton, I have a TRA001 in one of my tables and there are clearly quality control issues with mine. The accessory plastics were broken when I took it new out of its box. It didn't bother me at the time however as none of it was needed for table use but other things...
