    can you identify this wood?

I can't imagine they are using maple for something like this especially if they are staining them and not making a point of them being constructed of maple in the first place. This type of product will have a low price point and as such they will use the cheapest wood (Pine I suspect) they can...

    Drill presses again!

You will always find someone happy or conversely someone finding fault with every variant of drill press regardless of cost and / or origin. My £0.02 worth; 1. Buy the best you can afford. 2. Buy old iron over new unless you you can afford to buy well engineered new kit. 3. Buy a decent dial...

Have I just torn up £50??

Doesn't look like a scam to me. On another unrelated note, I'd like to introduce you to my uncle. He's a Nigerian Prince and he's in a bit of a pickle getting £70 million out of his account.

    Selling woodwork - legal measures?

Drop me a PM if you want a direct line to someone. I know the BW people fairly well and can cut a lot of the process out in finding someone. It may come to nothing but for the sake of a phone call in the first instance, it's worth the effort in my opinion.

    Selling woodwork - legal measures?

Chris, I notice you are Cardiff based, drop your local Business Wales office a call and have a chat with a start-up adviser. They may be able to get you on some free business advice courses to give you an idea of direction and requirement for this and related situations. It will also allow for a...

Pneumatic framing nailer / nailgun which one?

Never heard of Ace and K, will have a look. Anyone used or heard anything about Fasco? They seem to have a bigger footprint in the US and Europe but seem solid bits of kit.

    Inca Euro 205

A few people swear by home made Lignum Vitae as guide blocks often preferring them over stock and expensive graphite options like the Carter ones. I'm aware Inca owners have gone down this route.

    Table saw or Panel saw?

You can get decent sliding table saws with scribe blade and outrigger options. Best of both worlds - depending on budget and space. The Hammer K3 can be fitted with a scribe blade and there are outrigger options available. The main issue you will see between table and panel saws is the actual...

Pneumatic framing nailer / nailgun which one?

I've read good things about Hitachi but pneumatic versions seem thin on the ground in the UK.

Pneumatic framing nailer / nailgun which one?

Pneumatic certainly seems to get the thumbs up over cordless based on the research I've done so far. Point taken on the lubrication. Cheers

Pneumatic framing nailer / nailgun which one?

As the title says, looking for a decent air framing nailer but the online reviews are sparse or biased towards cordless battery versions. Currently a toss up between a Dewalt or Paslode but some real word feedback would be appreciated. I'm doing a fair bit of framing and have more coming up so...

Clarke Pillar / press drill - on button lock in failure?

It will function differently in-situ and removed. It's the initial switch on that holds the switch in, hence when the power drops it resets to off and stops it coming on by accident.

Clarke Pillar / press drill - on button lock in failure?

Is it a No-Volt-Release switch, i.e. it has a green go and red stop button and won't automatically turn on after a power cut? If so the switch is likely to be the culprit and cheap and easy to replace.

    Portable chainsaw mill

Quick update, I've since bought a used Logosol M8, one of these; https://www.logosol.co.uk/sawmills/f2-chain-sawmill/ It's the previous Farmers version but looks pretty much the same. I've also bought a new chainsaw, a Stihl 441 (Mtronic) with a 20" bar awaiting delivery. I appreciate I...

    Hammer N4400 Bandsaw noise

I believe it is custom to Felder as I order quite a bit of extrusion and I've never seen the rail available off the shelf and the tables themselves are machined to mate to that rail. That said, this doesn't mean you can't buy it from the same source, just don't know where that is.
