Buying a 3 phase planer thicknesser for single phase supply

Don't want to add to the problem, more of a heads up. Inverters don't like RCD's unless they are the right RCD. Would need to check but I think I'm running a Type B. You need to factor in some local advice / work into the mix basically.

    Plane choice?

Whilst that's relevant to your circumstance and I fully appreciate that it's not relevant to what the OP asked, hence my comment. I'd also add this isn't ultimate quality territory either, close enough in the context of this thread but are are some silly price tags out there in the land of planes.

    Plane choice?

My £0.02 worth........ The QS planes whilst very good tools for the money are no Lie Nielsen or Veritas. I have a fair few Lie Nielsens and a couple of QS bench planes. There is a difference and it's noticeable in my opinion. I'm not sure the difference in quality would warrant the difference...

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

How did we end up challenging the veracity of disability on a thread showing someone overcoming it in an inspirational way?

    Liogier hand stitched rasps

Looking forward to an update on this, as mentioned in your other thread I have some Auriou rasps. Interested in your opinion on these. Always a toss between Liogier and Auriou when I buy a new rasp. You will not be disappointed, they luck the mutts nuts.

    What chainsaw.

You could go half way and get a Hutzl; part Stihl / part Chinese knock off (spoiler - total knock off). To be fair though they are an interesting idea for people who like to know how their equipment is put together. Been tempted a few times myself but know I'll never have the time to build it.

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

For clarity here, he is blind. This isn't a jolly jape or someone with a partial issue with sight pulling a fast one for Youtube likes. Yes it's scary but within the context of his situation its inspiring in my opinion. I can see the argument for a warning re: a blade guard, he certainly...

MFT top, make one or buy in?

You could buy a template jig. Easier to use than the UJK fiasco and reusable. I think CNCdesign sell them.

Planer / thicknesser - what to inspect before buying used?

What he said ^. A Sedgwick will outlast the Scheppach. This would be a no-brainer for me.

    What chainsaw.

As Beau says, you get what you pay for. I would be reluctant to cheap out on a chainsaw myself. A well maintained sharp known brand will always outperform a cheap knock out. Got Stihl''s myself, a 180 for firewood and a 441 (mtronic) for a Logosol beam cutter. Both never missed a beat and...

This guy has total sight loss, says so in his first video. Appreciate the spectrum of impairment though.

Why Can't Someone Build Me a Door?

+1 Quantity and the bare bones requirement will not necessarily (perversely) equate to a low or reasonable quote with a lot of suppliers. Plus your area is not going to help either. As Noel says, meet your potential supplier at their shop else it's even more a skeet shoot. I'm also down the...

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

Came across this video earlier on Youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAbl9hpLEM4 Blind tradesman doing, amongst other things, a little woodworking. Looks earlier days for his content but I'll wager that people could probably learn something from a guy who is down on the key sense most...

Buying a 3 phase planer thicknesser for single phase supply

Depends on the model and wiring of the motor itself but an inverter drive (also known as Variable Frequency Drive) is the way to go. I would personally go for a branded device as opposed to the Chinese devices on Ebay. Go with an IMO, Control Techniques or similar. What is your machine?

Buying a 3 phase planer thicknesser for single phase supply

Yes is the short answer but are you referring to a convertor or an inverter.

    Which Cable / Stud Finder??

I did notice that IOS seems unsupported at the moment but given the price and nature of its use, I'd have a punt at this and just buy a cheap Android to use with it exclusively. It's a device that will likely be updated in it's use via software. Either way good luck in finding something suitable.

    Which Cable / Stud Finder??

Have you had a look at the Walabot device? https://walabot.com/diy Not used myself or indeed met anyone who has but then it is fairly new. Seems to be legit, went through a kickstarter route. Plenty of good reviews on it.

    Hi and some help needed

If this is the second time the exact same issue has come up on that one device in that time span, I'd put my money into a new router with a refreshed warranty personally. I would add that I have seen several issues with Triton speed control being fixed simply by re-crimping the connectors to...

    Makita Air Nailer/Compressor/Hose Reel

+1, they often store the fittings in plastic bins behind the counter at my local branch. They will test fit anything you are not sure of.
