Nail guns choices driving me mad

I was in a similar position in recent weeks in getting a framing nailer. I didn't know whether to go cordless or air. I tried a few cordless but did not take to them at all. The Hitachi gas-less/cordless seems to stand up to the hype from the feedback I got but you're looking at £450+ if you...

    Saw stop

I would have thought statistically it would be hobby workers who make up the numbers but how many 'per capita' is not something I would expect to likely be captured.

    RE: Sharpening stone recommendation

Is the Norton an oil or waterstone? Going to guess that you use the Arkansas' for medium to final stone polish and therefor the Norton has one side at least c1000 grit. Diamond stones are a good way forward, especially at the very coarse and ultra fine spectrum (in my opinion). However, given...

    Die grinder, air / electric

Anyone out there using die grinder with rasp bits. Looking to get a die grinder and wondered if anyone can pass any advice on. I'll probably go for a pneumatic but also open to electric. Looking for a decent brand such as Ingersoll Rand (air) or Bosch (electric). Any gotcha's or tips in using...

    Kunz planes in UK

I've seen fair reviews of their squirrel plane, which I haven't seen other vendors do at that price point. Also Dieter Schmid and Dictum carry them so I'm inclined to think they aren't a waste of time. No thorough experience of them myself, handled a few but nothing extensive. More options is...

    Kunz planes in UK

Just a heads up. Only just noticed that Rutlands are carrying Kunz planes now. As you were....

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

That's fair enough and you're right, moderating is a thankless task sometimes - been there done that. I apologise for that comment....

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

Not excusing any kind of behaviour, including your own, just think your response is counter productive. Again I agree that some of the comments have been worrying but contempt at this juncture based on off-hand forum comments is maybe not the way forward. Educating ignorance is far more...

    Blind Youtuber Woodworker?????

Erm, wind your neck in. I initially thought the same when I noticed the guy drop his glasses down, if only for a few seconds. One of those things, you don't sometimes fully appreciate the need for safety even from your own perspective until you understand it from other peoples' point of view...

    caveat emptor

That is a very good point to raise. I've heard of a few people receiving PayPal funds straight away followed up by an email to collect at leisure. People assume they must be sound to pay so quickly and think nothing of it.

    Biscuit jointer.

Fair enough, just throwing options out is all. Have a search for other biscuit jointer uses. They can do more than just slots for biscuits. I very rarely use mine (have a Domino) but it has paid it's way over the years.

    Biscuit jointer.

It's hit or miss with Clarke in my opinion, I've had Clarke stuff that lasted decades and some that lasted ten minutes. If your expected usage is going to be very limited I'd be very tempted to get a 'biscuit jointer' router bit. It will prove far more useful beyond biscuit cutting and would...

    Festool vouchers / alternatives

Ebay is generally where I buy them. I'll often barter with sellers offering to buy a few to drop the price further. Makes sense for them as they save on postage and get the sale. Never paid over £11 each (Even in single quantities). At £20-£30 I wouldn't bother as I can get Festool blades...

    Festool vouchers / alternatives

Will have a look at Peter's vid when I get chance. Have to say for breaking down sheet I've not had a problem with Trend 48T's in the TS55. I originally tried them to cut down a fair bit of MRMDF as I knew it would dull the Festool blades quite quickly. They worked well with similar(ish)...

    caveat emptor

It is shockingly easy to get people to part with their money, it hits all types of people regardless of intelligence or lack thereof. It's generally predicated on naivety, stupidity and greed.

    Festool vouchers / alternatives

Must admit, I never used the Trend blades on laminate or coated panels. Worth knowing that they are not up to that task.

    Festool vouchers / alternatives

Not seen vouchers come through the box for a while. The ones that do these days are mostly about an extra battery if you buy certain kit, haven't seen the old £50-off for over a year myself (at least). That FFX price isn't too bad. I normally get my Festool from Nuts & Bolts...

    Best sharpening system

Similar experience to others here, I have a T7 and whilst it achieves the results, it's painfully slow. I genuinely believe it fails as a primary singular sharpening system. I use a combination of options now in addition to the T7, namely stones (Ohishi) and diamond plates with a Veritas Mk2...
