Wadkin RZ16 surface planer for sale 3ph East Grinstead

What he said ^. That is stunning machinery. I'm always making room in my shop for an aircraft carrier. You're a bit far for me, any closer and I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale.

    Electric Power Supply To Workshop

BS 7671-2008 regs, regulation 522.8.10 is the reference here. 'Buried cables, conduits, and ducts shall be at a sufficient depth to avoid being damaged by any reasonably foreseeable disturbance of the ground' This is 17th edition, not seen the 18th version yet which came out last year, can't...

Pocket holes for shelf fixing? Crazy idea?

In theory, if the screws are angled down into the wall and have sufficient grab they would have enough shear resistance however you need to factor in two things; The wall plugs will need to be long enough and at the right angle for the protruding screw from the wood. You will need to start the...

Any alternate to Bench Dogs.co.uk ?

Not sure if you have a good source for profile but I have used these guys for many years and their service has been spot on. http://www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/ I've built a 2mx1m dog hole table, a Kapex bench and numerous CNC routers with their stuff. They do the Bosch Rexroth and 'Item'...

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

That vendor also has a Startrite 601S, over the budget but it has an offer button. That thing looks like a beast.

This is pretty much it. It's the distribution of the weight as opposed to the weight itself.

Low-ish cost Router Plate with lift

I can see your logic, just don't agree based on real world engineered products and solutions is all. I agree though, let's agree to disagree.

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

I found myself in your position a few years back and narrowed it down to the first three on your list (although I think the current Startrite model was a 502 then). I was just about to push the button on the Startrite when I got offered a good deal on a Hammer n4400 as part of a Hammer package...

Low-ish cost Router Plate with lift

Again, disagree. Simple engineering is not always the lowest cost denominator. Multiple shafts bind, introduce increased backlash and sometimes over complicate a simple function. Elegant simple engineering is not the lesser cousin of compensated design.

    What's an oak tree worth?

Totally agree. Gone that way myself, setup up a Logosol F2 chain saw mill with 4 meter capacity last year. I live in a forest so it always made sense for me. I just have the awkward situation of running low on stock whilst waiting on drying the new. I'm currently looking for new suppliers in my...

    What's an oak tree worth?

All these calculations are way-over-thinking it. This is a tree that has been designated firewood, it needs processing and at least two years of seasoning to even be that. At less than 18" diameter (and that's not even at breast height) he is going to get less than a cord out of this tree...

    What's an oak tree worth?

^ This and also factor in the hassle / time / fuel the farmer will have in chopping, moving, storing and disposing of the brush. There is a cost to the farmer in doing the work himself. Perhaps you could offer to have dried and cut firewood delivered to where he wants it in exchange for the...

Rutlands Parallel Clamps (Bessey Clones - Thoughts?)

£120 plus postage is quite an outlay for 'cheap' clamps given the Dakota badge. That's over £21 per clamp which would be a good price if they were useable and had some longevity but I'm not sure I would take that gamble. I've seen previous comments on Dakota parallel clamps suggesting the...

Lie Nielsen large shoulder plane 073

It's very unlikely this is a Lie Nielsen knock off with a Lie Nielsen brand. And besides you would be able to tell quite quickly if this is a copy based on overall finish and quality. I also wouldn't worry about the veracity of the seller in terms of they being a collector or not - people that...

Low-ish cost Router Plate with lift

I hear what you're saying but the reality is the Jessem is a very well engineered piece of kit and the single screw design is the reason I would prefer it over the multiple chain driven UJK - it's simpler and less to go wrong. In terms of the functionality of lifting and lowering the platen...
