    How to do it.

Seen far worse with far better tools and far less function. At least it's encouraging maker skills, albeit limited, but it's making stuff.

    Favorite YouTube woodworker

Just watched a few videos, interesting to have that view from a commercial workshop of that size. Also, in my opinion the intro length on your own videos is bang on. Just enough to identify it to you.

    why?

You are kidding right, you and Rorshach are fighting between yourselves on who insulted me first and I’m scoring points for referencing this fact? And yet you repeat the same insults again and demand I satisfy your ignorance regarding tool manufacture? For what it’s worth I think Argee had...

Block planes, buy second hand or make one?

Plenty of online resources with a little info on models and how to tune; http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan14.htm http://www.hansbrunnertools.com/Stanley ... %20220.htm https://virginiatoolworks.com/?s=220 The blade will often be a good guide on older planes, Stanley Rule and Level or...

    How square is your square

A set of conditions being met in a given moment doesn't mean it met the criteria of being functional. No that was all you.

    Measuring aids maintenance

Depends on the conditions in your garage. Most workshops will probably have similar builds to a garage and there will be plenty of people leaving susceptible tools in their garage workshops. If there is an issue with the environment, a tool box / cab with moisture control (silica gel, tools...

    Joinery pencil

Not a pro and not doing it daily but for what it's worth I use good quality standard pencils (Staedtler, Faber-Castell, etc) with a Helix A5 sharpener. A good sharpener will make all the difference in getting and maintaining a good point. I still use mechanical pencils but are more drawn to...

    why?

Beyond the obvious aspect that there are clique groups on here who will support each other regardless of the discussion itself and sometimes this is to the detriment of others? Nope. I appreciate the actual 'precise / imprecise' thread in the tools section was more civil and I agree that it...

Ok to mount a dust extractor horizontally?

I've changed the plane of motor / fan units for dust collectors many times over many years. I wouldn't even think of it being an issue. Like you say, just make sure the motor fan has open access to air to keep cool.

    MFT clamping options

For info, I get mine from KJN; http://www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/ Postage is a kicker but if you order a few lengths it often pans out. They will cut to exact length and are superb as a supplier. I made my own main bench out of Bosch Rexroth 90x90 (10mm slot) extrusion with a DIY MFT top. I...

    Bog oak treasure trove.

Wasn't specifically aimed at you or anyone in particular Doug B and I agree that I hope it gets sorted.

    MFT clamping options

Apologies transatlantic I thought those were extrusions in the pic but then that was assuming it was a pic of yours as well. You could mill a length of wood to size (2x2" ish), mount it under the front of the MFT top and route a keyhole along the length to use standard festool/similar clamps...

    why?

Equally, what's the point of a mod if you don't respect their decision? These are strange times indeed. Having a vent in the form of that 418 page thread is surely a measured approach.

    Best joint advice ?

A with additional fastening. Also, given you have unsorted wood and possibly thinner pieces (i.e. c22mm), may be an opportunity to use it up and stagger it to create the length.

    Stanley 386, Broken Wingbolt

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lots-1pc-HSS ... ctupt=true change your search string, i.e. 10/28, 10-28, 10 28, etc (if that makes sense). I'd still check the online stores, collectors will often keep half a tool and bits. Also, little bit of a tangent but the old Singer sewing machines used 10/28...
