Record power BS400 vs Hammer N4400

To jump in again, can't say I have ever had a tracking issue in initial setup or during use with the Hammer. I appreciate comparing a BS400 to an N4400 is not a fair comparison but then I read the OP's choice as one between a higher end consumer unit or a lower end pro unit, i.e. is the cost...

Record power BS400 vs Hammer N4400

I own a Hammer N4400 but have also used a BS400, albeit an old one. They will both do what you ask of them. That said, the Hammer is superb and if you can stretch to the price go for it, you will not be disappointed. I know people who bought BS400's and decided to return them however I have yet...

    Friendship vs Greed

Is that sarcasm? I find it hard to tell these days on the T'interweb.

    Bit of a shame

The irony meter is off the scale here, yet again. Would that be discussing like; Or Or Or Or Asking for a friend.... Oh and stop the constant jibes at moderators, it's a thankless task made worse by jibes. Been absent for while, hope everyone is safe and staying safe.

    Woodwork courses

Another plus for Peter Sefton, I did a three day course last year and worth the cost and more importantly my time. Would and will use again in the future as my own needs develop. Just my £0.02....

Wood screws- type and where to buy?

I'd take a step back here, the requirement is for jigs and fixtures and screws are not always the best option. Personally for jigs and fixtures I tend to use threaded inserts & socket heads and more often these days, plastic nails. Jigs and fixtures often end up being reworked so having that...

Help with electric motor fault diagnosis? :¬(

Are your connections solid and tight? Are you wiring this with an undisturbed path to the mains, i.e. your not going through an adapter or mains extension, etc?

    Acorns?

You will usually find small orangey-brown lumps on the underside of the leaves if you can get to them.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE MULTICO TH... IN THE WORLD. (RESTORATION)

Oh my word  only just seen this. That is just superb. I get the 'way out west' and hoarding farmers thing. It's a desert out here for decent kit sometimes.

    Workbench top?

Going back to the random comments on this thread re: cost effective and reasonable costs. Trevanion's comments on an 8cm thick laminated Beech worktop 150cm by 96cm at c£250 being reasonable to me smacks of exactly that - being reasonable. I get it that not everyone has that budget but the...

    Workbench top?

As already initially referenced by Benchwayze, it's not uncommon to have gypsum sandwiched within a fire rated door as a mineral insulator, any good architect will be able to confirm this for you. I'm sure one will be along shortly to note this.

    Fiat V Ferrari

To add my £0.02, I have gone down both routes, I have older earlier chisels and planes and newer Veritas and Lie Nielsen in equal measure. I've nailed my opinion on the cheap-tool door in the past often to the usual retorts from the usual suspects. I agree with the comments on the OP's opening...

iTech rip fence assembly new and free NOW GONE

+1 - superb bit of kit and superb supplier. Any new purchasers be aware of the footprint though - this will not be a good buy in a small environment, it takes up a lot of space. I adapted mine fitting the slider on the front edge of the saw which negates the space issue. If that makes sense?

    Now that's a drill press!

I bought an old Steff / Maggi power feeder for my spindle moulder a few months back but the mounting bracket was just too big to fit comfortably on the spindle bed. I was about to throw it back on Ebay when I realised the power head holder was the same diameter as one of my pillar drill's...

    Microgeneration Certification Scheme

For info and I know you haven't asked this directly but for clarity, you can't retrospectively apply MCS accreditation if it wasn't installed by or under the MCS scheme. This will remain a non-MCS install. How many panels are there, if it's just a few you could relocate the to the garden (space...

    What's this use for?

The teeth would suggest that, just had a look at my cage nut tools and the end points are different. I think you may be closer to the potential use.

First thing I thought, I have several Krone tools look exactly the same. Beats impaling yourself with a flat blade screwdriver (ask me how I know).

Advice Needed for CNC Machine - Laser vs Mill vs Drag Knife

No probs, happy to sanity check your choices before you push the button on buying one if it helps. I'm sure others would add their input as well. Even at the low end of your budget that's a lot of change to put down on a machine that you are new to. You effectively need two machines, a...
