    Evolution table saw

I suspect they are similar in spec, use the same frame and plastics and are just aiming at different markets. I don't know anything of their table saws but I also suspect given the similarities that they are probably the same wattage as well. Don't rely on a Screwfix description for specs, they...

How to change career to woodworking

Yup, I get this all the time. Suspended reality. I once worked with a guy, a friend who wanted some advice and who had a relatively good business idea. Quite late in the discussions he said "I can't wait to work for myself and be able to spend more money on my hobbies and take more time off". I...

How to change career to woodworking

I would argue most of the the successful ones were successful because they had that info in mind, but yes I agree it does scare a lot of people off and possibly people who could have achieved a viable business. A good business advisor or accountant will go through this process.

Clamps - Best bang for buck?

Same as any clamp really, they fit where you can place them and when they make sense. The K bodies have a flat base so they help in lifting the working piece off the bench. They also have a large surface on either side of the clamping area which helps in certain circumstances. They have their...

Clamps - Best bang for buck?

I have a good mix of clamps from the Irwin XP's, Record G & F's and a stash of Bessey F & K body clamps. Because of the nature of my work I probably have around 400+ clamps in the workshop. Knowing what I know now and if I had to start again I would invest in Bessey F's and Record G's in...

How to change career to woodworking

As others have stated, lots of good advice here, to add my £0.02 worth and this will reiterate most of that advice; Be mindful of what you think that career change will be in terms of your enjoyment of working with wood and if this won’t just be a different version of ‘unrewarding’. Be prepared...

    Help spend my money!!

Have to disagree with thetyreman, I have a LN no 3 and a 4.5, the no 3 is just lovely to use. Have not regretted buying it one bit and it's a keeper. It will give you your money back in 10 years time as well. Push that button.

    Business Grant Support

All of the central government and local government websites have covid-19 headers on the main pages. Go to the main council page and follow the links. A lot of councils have setup their support sites quite quickly often responding to confirmation of the policy itself in line with their...

    Friendship vs Greed

Agree with you there. No winners in this, apologies to Trainee neophyte and RogerS. Surreal times right now and if we met in real life I'd like to think it would be a different conversation. Stay safe everyone.

    Friendship vs Greed

Fixed your original reply for you, do you sense the irony yet? The only edit which I omitted was the reference to "immoral, murderous, violent and unworthy" which I thought was a strange conclusion in the first place, but that's all yours. Edited with bigger text to appease the few.....

    Donating Masks

If you have spare PPE contact your Local Health Board and County Council. These are the primary points of contact to manage supply (or lack of) to the areas that need it most within your own locale. It's not just health care workers that are crying out for these things, yes they are clearly the...

    Extra long T-Squares. Any recommendations

I will have a look at what's available, even if not used for my original need, never thought to look in that direction for large squares. Completely forgot about Dieter Schmid, shows how ling since I bought new tools. I've bought a fair bit from them in the past. Will have a look through. Just...

    Extra long T-Squares. Any recommendations

Looking to get a decent precision T - square between 600 and 900m in length. The Woodpecker T-600 looks ideal but £154 is not exactly making it an easy purchase. That said the pencil holes along the length are for me its selling point (along with the fact it's a well made tool of course). Anyone...

    festool jealousy....

I find most Festool users lean in this direction. Yes there are the fan boys who obsess and treat it like a tool version of Pokemon but most users in my experience get what they can from the system and shop elsewhere where it makes more sense. Personally, Im not exactly taken by the jigsaws and...

    Coronavirus

 As a 'wise' man once said; The connection to chloroquine concerned with a potential tool against Covid-19 is based on research going back to earlier this year. The testing also included SARS as well as Covid-19. This research has occurred in several well respected institutes across the...
