Best place to buy a Domino DF500 these days...

cheers for that, I forgot about them, they seem to be in the lower end. I've found a few cheaper but only by a few pounds. I was aware some of the main dealers had some xmas deals with % off across the board but I think I missed them for now.

Best place to buy a Domino DF500 these days...

Looking to buy another DF500 (240V) but wanted to check if there are any good deals out there at the moment? I already have the 700 XL machine and used to have a 500 but stupidly sold it a few years back thinking the XL will do the job of both with a Seneca adapter. I have to say I have...

    Game Changing Tools

Possibly contentious.... Biggest game changer for me was buying better quality tools. I got stuck in a rut of compromising on quality, conflating tools with similar purpose as being similar in capability. The cost hurts initially but I have yet to regret purchasing the best I can afford at the...

    Dust extraction and track-saws

Henry hoovers are fairly decent, you can actually buy HEPA filters for them. What diameter size hose is it?

Woodrat - Probally The Worst Service Ever?

I do so love people who have a poke at folk who have a poke at folk who have just joined a forum. I agree with Phil Pascoe, a tad irksome that a gripe is the proto post from a forum member. Not the best way to start and hope there is a better ending to the thread. There is a global pandemic...

Scissor lift table (eg Felder FAT300) - have one?

Look for hospital beds online through gumtree, facebook marketplace or Ebay, the mechanisms are ideal for this purpose. My neighbour has made a superb metalworking bench with one. They take the weight, are designed to be foot operated and move easily whilst being able to be locked when when needed.

    Axminster Deliveries

In defence of Axminster, I've had some infrequent purchases from them since lockdown, some bulk and some small. Have to say the service was spot on. Yes it didn't arrive next day, but then I figured a global pandemic was going to affect some businesses more than others. I'd also add that it...

Stainless screws or nails/pins for Western red Cedar slats?

I would always go with piloted holes for stainless myself, they tend to be brittle if pushed in my experience.

    How good is Amazon

This isn't a discussion of proportional blame against politicians and the respective government back offices, it's about the initial opening thread of Amazon being good. Avoiding tax and not paying the appropriate levels within their geographical territories is not the definition of a good...

    How good is Amazon

But if everyone legally avoided it, would you feel the same way?

    How good is Amazon

That's just semantics at the end of the day and not fundamental to the overall argument. That whole discussion is moot when we eventually agree on the terms to describe what is happening here. Loopholes are as ambiguous as mistakes when it comes to governmental tax laws. Call it what you want...

    Incra positioners

Another plus here, running a positioner with clear cut guides and no concerns with rigidity. Solid system, no regrets for me. Peter Sefton is the best source for this (in my opinion). I have a fair bit of Incra in my work shop and Peter has been hands down the best supplier for it.

    How good is Amazon

I agree with what you're saying, I just suspect they will still find them regardless of how much harder they are to find, the accountants finding them will just get paid more. I would wager the levels of tax avoidance is a relatively global issue irrespective of the quantity of laws.

    How good is Amazon

Not saying the tax system isn't flawed but that the abuse of loopholes doesn't mean the only way to fix it is to fix the system itself. You will always have loopholes, they will always be found and failing that you will have crime, whatever method people or organisations use to circumnavigate...

    How good is Amazon

Why? Because there are consequences to your purchasing choices beyond what's in it for you? I also don't buy into the idea that the tax system is flawed and it's fair game if people want to avoid it because they effectively can. If someone with more-than-enough money avoids paying into the...

    Metal stud workshop

As in the title, I'm building another workshop and about to use metal studs instead of the usual wood approach. I've laid the concrete foundation and laid a few courses of block work for a level and slightly raised base to erect the metal. Took delivery of the metal studs (and metal sheet) a few...

Advice on which youtuber might review my new products

To the OP, don't be disheartened by the above comments, see this as feedback to act upon. I didn't want to critique the products themselves in my first retort in case it came across as too negative but have to agree with the comments up there. If the scribe was presented as a scratch built...

Advice on which youtuber might review my new products

Don't want to be negative in the first reply to this and I applaud you for exploring these routes but I'm a little confused on who your target market is for both products. This is a genuine question and maybe it's just me.
