Mitre saw purchase advice, bevel right cuts

I have the Kapex 120 and a Dewalt 712. Dust collection on the Kapex is superb, highly accurate in cutting and a joy to use. My only criticism is that it is a light weight machine comparative to the competition. I get the point of that when used as a site saw but let's be honest, most (not all)...

    Anyone own these "Bessey" clamps?

Be aware that the Rutlands clamps have an equal mix of fans and unhappy users. Personally at the price point of the clamps, unless you pay more or luck out on a well manufactured less well known brand then they are all pretty similar. The other problem is inconsistency in manufacture, often the...

    Anyone own these "Bessey" clamps?

Not got any of the ones in the link but I have Bessey clamps and clamps based on the same design. The Bessey clamps are superb, a little awkward sometimes but superb. The other clamps I have that are on a par are Dewalt types...

    MFT router table

Totally agree here, the portable saw cart as a base is a brilliant idea. I'm so stealing that in the future. I'm another fan of KJN, their customer service is spot on. The delivery costs are sometimes eye watering but then they are moving large, heavy and often very long items.

    Cast iron bench table saw?

Yeah the TKS-80 is only 37kg which although seems heavy comparative to the Dewalt's of this world is actually incredibly lean given the sawstop technologies physics of mass. I had some comms back from Festool yesterday and they were spot on with customer service - partly the reason a Festool...

FFX 5% off Promo code 221FFX

Just to add, this is still valid. I used it on Sunday (24th) and got £80 knocked off my purchase.

    Cast iron bench table saw?

I'm in denial about the price myself. I have yet to really regret a Festool purchase to be fair so I should be pacified when it turns up - that said I just found a total clanger in the online specs for the TKS. Festool's own UK site states the TKS is only 80mm wider than the CS-70 however the...

    Cast iron bench table saw?

Yeah a total redirection, I looked around for something that matched what I needed it for and was taken by the pull feature of the saw. I had the option of the TKS SawStop version as it is a similar cost but again the pull option on the CS swung it for me. I went with the basic saw for now, not...

    Cast iron bench table saw?

Quick update for anyone who is interested and people reading searched threads, I explored a few other forums and just pushed the button on ordering a CS70 Precisio. Total diversion to the cast iron request but I figured all available options in terms of a small bench saw are going to be alloy...

    Cast iron bench table saw?

I did consider an old cabinet saw but it's a lot bigger than I need or want. I already have a decent table saw, I'm just after something more practical and space efficient to keep in the house for the work over the next year to save me going back and forth. I suspect a cast top on a bench...

    Cast iron bench table saw?

Does anyone do a circa £500 cast iron bench top table saw anymore? Axi's versions are just way to over priced for what they are these days. Draper used to do the 200mm cast topped saw but these are no longer available. I'm looking for a small decent bench top to keep in the house whilst doing...

MFT insert / blanks to fill holes

On a similar vein in covering the top you could also implement a paper roll the width of the top along the edge of the bench on a dispenser. You could pull a new piece over, it would cover everything, double as a glue up table and a fresh piece can be pulled when needed disposing of the previous...

MFT insert / blanks to fill holes

I think the better solution would be in line with Doug71's situation, a permanent lower shelf below the table. Using tools is about convenience, I suspect you will soon get bored plugging all the holes in an MFT table 8 x 4 in dimensions.

    Alternative joining method

Given he just bought it, I can't comment on that outcome. Granted there is some cross over but again, different joints in different circumstances. Comparing a morticer to a Domino doesn't stack up that much these days. Again, cost is not always the concern and a weak argument anyhow if you...

    Alternative joining method

Firstly, it's not an incidental add on, the RTS adapter increases the capacity of the original investment quite significantly. As for the 1060 Domino assortment, that comes with five additional cutters in 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10mm sizes and (as the name suggests) over 1000 Domino tenons - all within...

    Alternative joining method

Appreciate the time taken to share the info. Have a look at the Seneca RTS adapter and grab a 1060 assortment box from Festool, this will increase the capacity of the 700 to no end.

Sooo much to unpack on this thread. I suspect it's more indicative of peoples expectations than the performance of an online store.

    Multitool

I had the opportunity to speak directly with Fein's technical development lab a few years back. They went into some depth about the oscillation principle of their tool and were quite (understandably) content that despite the copies out there, their competitors were still not getting the whole...
