    Creaking laminate?

Wow, what a result. Took that section of beading off and noise completely gone. Didn't even fiddle with anything else.

    Creaking laminate?

Yeah I've used talcum powder on floorboards before, it does work to an extent so may try that. What would be the best way to do that bit by the door frame? I don't know what tool would be best to cut it, and any other bits I find like that... That makes sense it may be an unsupported bit of the...

    Creaking laminate?

Thanks, good to hear it's not common as it may mean it's easily solvable. Especially I think because it was fine before adding the hall laminate, makes me think there must be tension there somewhere after he connected it all, including the beading. I may take some off myself today, and see what...

    Creaking laminate?

I didn't realise until after he left, I'll ask him tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the floorboards underneath were even. The whole room and hall were, although this is an area I may not have noticed much. It's been installed in the living room and the adjoining hall, so there's no door bar fitted on...

    Creaking laminate?

Just had laminate installed over natural floorboards. The floorboards were even and not creaky. He did the living room first, underlay then laminate, before coming back to do the hall. After the living room was done, there was no sound at all, perfectly smooth. Today he did the hall, and now...

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

I would if it wasn't for downstairs being so cold in winter

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Yeah that makes sense. I'm just going to stick with the one I've got, called several underlay companies today and they seem to think it should sufficient. Someone did reccomend sealing the gaps in the floorboards before we lay it, so will need to find something for that. If you've got any...

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Yeah thanks. Actually still confusing, as I read the higher the tog rating the better for insulating the floor. But as you say, if it's not mentioned much then maybe it's not as relevant

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Ok thanks. I may order fibre boards and then decide by Monday when he comes to lay it.

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Thanks, I'll give it some thought. Do you know why tog ratings aren't usually listed under specs in most underlays?

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Floorboards are solid, but I just want to make sure it insulates the room as much as possible. The underlay I ordered was reccomended by the seller, but it as only after I read its tog rating was 1.11 and I'm reading online the higher to rig rating, the better it insulates... So not sure if 1.11...

Bedt underlay for laminate on natural floorboards?

Hi all I've posted before about insulating or re doing over natural floorboards and have finally gone for 10mm laminate. Trying to figure out what underlay is best to keep the room warm. The one I've ordered is pro gold Vapour 1.11 tog, but now I'm thinking it's maybe not high enough tog...

    Best Laminate for heavy traffic?

Hahaha no worries, no offense taken. Shes average weight so I think it's more the footfall and also maybe I didn't varnish well enough? Although I did put 3 coats down. Below are photos of the machinery they use. Basically a hoist to transfer her from chair/bed into a mobile commode, which has...

    Best Laminate for heavy traffic?

Thanks, I've searched commercial grade laminate after previous comment and it seems I can get some for £19 per sqm so that's better than expected

    Best Laminate for heavy traffic?

I've posted several times about the natural floorboards which we had renewed and varnished and also the problems with draughts. The natural floorboards are not looking great now after the heavy traffic of my mum's carers coming in every day and the equipment they use to transfer her. Knowing...

Yeah ill need to look into that thanks for the reminder!

    Wood floors and draughts?

Thanks. I've not given laminate much thought but probably it could be the solution. I've got bad memories of sloppy, loose laminate from years ago and having a nightmare fitting it. But is as very young and could maybe just get someone in to do it. I can see there will be many benefits, and yes...

    Wood floors and draughts?

Well we got the curtains, a new radiator 600x1400 instead of 60 x900. It's made a bit of a difference but not massively. It's freezing outside too and it's defintely not that bad in the living room, but still feel there could be improvement. When the man fitted the radiator he took up a small...

    Wood floors and draughts?

Super, thanks for that. Is there a reason why this is better than other gap fillers? Better insulation?
