    Tool reviews

Not sure if it helps but the MPower TS300 appears to be identical to the Axminster Plus TSCE-12R, although it could be that one has better QC or something. I'm looking at this/these saws myself atm, so interested to see what you find out

M Power TS 300 Vs Axminster TSCE-12R 305mm Table Saw

Hmm, the 1ph motors are different and the tables appear to be slightly different sizes, but looks like they're out of the same factory at least.

    startrite bandit vs 301?

Hi, not sure if this helps but my 12-S-1 is badged Bandit, and it has no lower blade guide, which I was a bit disappointed in. Nice solid wee saw otherwise.

    Forum Users Router Tables

Home made Norm design, but not by me - got it on ebay with a Triton 001 in it (thanks Smiffla). But may have to morph it into a TS extension to save space.

Hmm, or maybe the invertor can do the starting...must check that.

    old pillar drills

I have also just traded up my cheapo bench drill - this is my new pal in the van this morning (if I got the image uploading right...). I think I overpaid (£170) but it needed to be near and soon. Seems in good nick, the odd muppet mark aside, it's 3phase dual voltage but I have an invertor on...

Another New Yankee Style Router Table

I guess I might have routed pulls into the fronts to keep it flush, like the drawers in the back of one of your pics, but i have a bad habit of knocking off anything that sticks out :)

It certainly is! Thanks for taking the time to post this, very thorough, and great pics.

What to buy first - router or table saw?

yeah he just seems like a real have-a-go frontier engineer. Safety is important of course, but youtube is what it is, and he's far from the worst. Have you seen the 150bhp log splitter vid?? 8-0

What to buy first - router or table saw?

That's how they roll in the land of the free :) edit: and in Canada! (oops) I like the guy tho - watched quite a few of his videos; his home made bandsaw is pretty impressive.

    Riving Knives in America...

Rise up, ye undead thread :) Just wanted to say that in all this talk of nasty unsafe american saws, nobody has mentioned nasty unsafe european fore-and-aft fences. My sip 01332 is a nice enough saw (apart from the bendy tables, arbour run-out, wobbly lead screws....) but locking the fence...

concealed hinges with short base plates?

Sounds great, thanks - got a pic? I can't find that on the hafele website...

concealed hinges with short base plates?

Yes, I can add blocks - I just wondered if there was a slimline base plate/hinge available Hafele 95D appear to place the base plate hole centres 37mm from the front edge of the frame - bit close for comfort, and no better than any other afaik - or am I missing something? Maybe i was unclear...

concealed hinges with short base plates?

Are you saying I should face-mount the hinge? The uprights are 44mm but shared between adjacent doors, so I think I have to mount them on the inside (same as 'normal' hinges in the uk)

concealed hinges with short base plates?

OK I found these http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=21312 Which look good Anybody know if they are sold in the UK?

concealed hinges with short base plates?

Hi all, a while back I knocked up some "temporary" kitchen units in our new house, just a frame of 2x2 par and some mfc shelves in it. Now (inevitably) they're less temporary (baby crawling, Glorious New Kitchen Plan no closer to fruition) and I need to fit doors. Want to make plain surface...

    When a SIP 01332 becomes a jet jts250 wip

This looks cool, how did you get on with it? Looks like you're in a regular garage there - I wondered about a slider for my sip but decided the beam would take up too much space. (my garage is 19x9ft). How do you find it?

    want a new tablesaw blade

But not of the type I meant - I meant the type under my link, with groups of teeth separated by wide gullets for ripping. It's very distinctive and apparently works v well for GP cuts.
