    Bandsaw upgrade

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my Charnwood W730 bandsaw (selling it in the next couple of weeks). I'm looking at either the Laguna 14/12 Bandsaw or the Record Power Sabre 350. Has anyone got any advice/opinions on these or other options? Thanks in advance

Large drill bits - why so long?

If I'm drilling up to say 13mm, I'll centre drill first and then go up through sizes until I reach 13mm. Obviously the speed of the lathe/mill/drill needs to correspond to the bit size and material.

Evolution circ. saw with track or Mac plunge saw?

Hi, I've got the Evolution circular saw with the tracks as I cut wood and metal. I can't fault the results or the saw and track and I've had them for about 3 years now. Like others have said, it's not for fine woodworking so...horses for courses really.

Charnwood w740 vs Record power 450?

I have the Charnwood W730. If the W740 is the same quality go with the Record Power bandsaw. I went to Yandles a couple of weeks ago as I'm looking to sell my Charnwood in a few months and I'm either going to buy the 14" Sabre 350 premium or the Laguna 14/12 as they're a totally different animal.

    Charnwood machines

I've got a Charnwood 14" bandsaw and a Charnwood drum sander. As Simon89 says...you get what you pay for. Going on my experience they're 'okay' but if possible go for a better quality brand.

Our shed is directly under a cherry tree. The shed has a felt roof and although it has a lot of bird poo the felt is still fine after 8 years.

Dust extraction for AP260SPT Planer Thicknesser

Hi, I don't know if this reply will help at all. I have an Axminster AW106PT planer thicknesses paired to a Charnwood W791CF Dust Extractor With 1 Micron Cartridge Filter. Most of the chips get sucked up into the extractor however; there are chips left behind on the thicknessing table after each...
