    Another clear out

A while ago I offered oak off cuts circa 300mm to 400mm long of various sizes (mainly from windows) FTAGH. Several people expressed interest but only 2 or 3 actually took a box. I have 4 boxes left and want to get rid asap. The deal was that you arrange the courier and will put a label on the...

    HVLP chip extractor

Then maybe take a guess. A 10" P/T is mid range. Is your use heavy or light? If light 600- 750cfm (1000 to 1250m3/hr) will be good if heavier maybe 850cfm or above(1400m3/hr or above) The other problem you will have is moving 750cfm through a 63mm duct might be very difficult.

    HVLP chip extractor

P/T's usually need circa 750- 1000cfm or around 1500m3hr in order to efficiently extract the waste. If your use is light then you might get away with less. Usually you need to match the extractor capacity to the manufacturer's specified extraction requirement.

    What is David Charlesworth using?

Your post is so disingenuous. You are comparing a quick hone to freshen an edge with a conflation of: 1. Initial tool preparation 2. Regrinding 3. Sharpening 4. Honing 5. Refreshing Your argument is that a quick hone is faster than having to do all five of these whatever method anyone uses...

How to make a skirting profile

You could form most of the top part of the moulding down to the start of the bulbous curve with a rebate block on the spindle and hand planes. You could form the lower part with a router cutter and then hand plane, chisel and sand to suit. If you have moulding planes all the better. It is...

Gents 1. Just because someone passionately believes something does not make it right. 2. Arguments do not get better by repetition. 3. Just because someone believes that modern high end tool manufacturers are snake oil salesmen does not make it true. The problem for this site is that people...

First air nailer gun kit. Looking for recommendations

I have a small Stanley compressor and Stanley brad nailer got them from screwfix. I only use it occasionally but it is good for pins and small nails (smaller than 2”). The problem I found with electric nailers is they do not have the power to sink a brad in hardwood.

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

It used to be resolved by a double Newel post. So rather than a 4” x 4” Newel an 8” x 4” Newel. Then the handrail can fit between a Newel post rather than planted onto the side.

    Table saw or Panel saw?

Peter, I was not meaning that was what I did. It was an explanation as to why someone might use a sled on a felder.
  17. PAC1

    Table saw or Panel saw?

The only benefit is you get an accurate cut location. As you will know on the felder there is a bit of a no mans land between the slider and the blade. So if you are cutting to a line rather than a dimension you have to check the first of the batch and then set the fence stop.

Benefits of using a smaller saw blade on a table saw?

No. You need to think about the circumference of the blade. A 300mm diameter blade has a circumference of 942mm whilst a 200mm diameter saw has a circumference of 628mm. So if the spindle is turning 3000rpm the 300mm blade travels 2826m or 169 KM per hour and the 200mm blade travels 1884m or...

    Table saw or Panel saw?

If you have a slider they take a very large footprint so you need to have the space. You might find yourself reconsidering the mft tracksaw solution if you get a slider because one of the true benefits of a slider is the incredibly accurate and square sheet cutting ability. Once set up you can...

Will helical cutter heads become the standard?

The advantage of a Teresa block is not the engineering of the block it is: 1. Speed of change of blade. It can sometimes take me as long as 5 minutes to change all three blades. 2. You can swap the blades to achieve different results. For example: hardwood, softwood and even a set for when...
