T+G router bits - looking for an overly long tounge

If you get a set with bearings that can be removed then you could swap the groove bearing for a wider bearing thus a less deep groove. I hope you are having the Avacado suite to go with the panelling

Axminster Tool Catalogue - then and now!

I have always had good service from Axminster but their price rises over the last three years, especially the failure to reflect the change in the exchange rate means I do not buy Veritas or LN from them. I have been buying direct from Canada and the USA and even allowing for a courier, the tax...

Do you live in a house more than a hundred years old?

I agree with Jacob's analysis. I served my apprenticeship in a North Nottinghamshire joiners shop it was a rare day when we were not matching to ovolo in the sizes referred to by Jacob. The locations covered were Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. I now live in a very old timber...

How to make money from woodworking?

It is a reality of modern living people will pay handsomely for a new Kitchen or fitted bedroom but all free standing furniture is compared to IKEA. The reason why people will pay £29.99 for a piece of chipboard shaped like a table is because when fashion changes they can throw it in the skip...

    Plane for shooting

As you were asking about a dedicated plane. Both Veritas and Lie Nielsen make dedicated shooting planes. Veritas do both left and right handed. I understand LN will bring out a left handed version soon. Both have considerable weight and a low angle and angled blade. The other advantage with...

    Hand routers

The Veritas is an excellent improvement on the original. I bought mine direct from Lee Valley with the fence and extra cutters and saved a considerable sum even allowing for the courier and import duty. The improvements include the ability to position the cutter at the front or centrally, the...

    Concrete Raft Curing

You should be ok without any measures. All I would say is it is best to cover the slab over for a week with hessian or a tarp or even newspapers. It is certainly not necessary to heat the slab it would be a pointless and expensive exercise.

Boiled Linseed Oil finish still feels greasy

Just a guess but it could be the top layer of ply is saturated as the oil cannot penetrate the lower layers because of the glue. I think putting it somewhere warm will help. The next drastic action would be to wipe over with meths to remove the excess. But that will raise the grain and need...

    work bench question

MDF is fine. I had MDF as a bench top for years. I gave it a light coat of varnish so that when you spill glue on it and forget to remove it it will not stick and so a light tap with a sharp chisel will remove it. Also when the top face has enough holes and cuts in it you can turn it over and...

Tuffsaw bandsaw blades a bit long.

Not sure it helps but the screws are 1/4 from the top

Tuffsaw bandsaw blades a bit long.

Hmm I put the 3/8th Tuffsaws M42 blade on today I could have wound the tension further but a quick lateral test told me it was ok. So how much lateral movement do you have with the guides at the full 12 inch cut. I had about 1/4 inch

Tuffsaw bandsaw blades a bit long.

James, what width blade are you installing?

Tuffsaw bandsaw blades a bit long.

I managed to change the blade today. It is the same length and tensioned slightly different to the gauge but as they say they are more for guidance then your actual tension point

Why no rebates for fitting into a housing joint?

When I was improving my skills I solved the problem by cutting the groove a nats thinner than the shelf thickness and then sneak up on a tight fit by planing the shelf to fit. It works with real wood. but if you use man made boards it is as Jacob says.

Really good customer service from Axminster

Axminster customer service has always been excellent. About 15 years ago a promised delivery was missed I rang up to see what happened and explained how important it was. Half an hour later they rang to make sure I would be in later that day as it would be driven to me by Mr Styles personally...

    Condensation in my shed

The short answer is no. The longer answer is you need to insulate the walls and roof and install a vapour barier. This probably means installing an inner wall and ceiling which will mean less space.
