    Table saw dust extraction

The problem with most LPHV extractors is they do not work well with small diameter pipes. so if you could increase the extraction underneath to 125 or 150mm diameter it should improve. Also try connecting your crown guard to a shop vacuum just to check if the current arrangement does not work...

    router & plough plane advice

A fence on a router plane is not essential but it makes the plane far more usable. I think the Veritas model is good value given all the options they have. I bought direct from Lee Valley.

    Woodworking ebooks - would you?

Steve People do not make money authoring technical books in any format. Some do it as a marketing tool for the main business. Some do it just to pass on the knowledge. You simply will not sell the volumes to offset the production and delivery costs. Publishers on the other hand make money...

    Is this a dangerous cut?

Morfa If you work on the basis that the rule is that only thing that should get within 15" of a blade is the wood you are cutting and a push stick or two, you minimise the risk.

    Is this a dangerous cut?

There are several things that could be done to improve the situation: 1. A false bed made of MDF or ply giving full support to the material being machined, and 2. fit the Shaw guard, and 3. Use a Aigner safety device if machining short lengths to span the gap

    Hollow Chisel Sharpening

The £40+ version is only worthwhile if you need the diamond plate. The £5 conical sharpener is great for sharpening the inside edge of the chisel as long as you make sure you are square on the chisel. The £40+ version has guides for the cone sharpener which reduce the risk of being out of square.

    Help needed on dust extraction

You need to have sufficient filter area to handle the actual air intake When you say 3000M3/hr what size duct is that based upon. The problem is that if you use a smaller diameter say only say 100mm you will not achieve anything like the airflow. In simple maths terms if the design duct...

    Dust extraction

The problem with bandsaws is you need two extraction points one at the bottom wheel and one around the open blade. It is therefore difficult to get efficient dust extraction without going for a massive air volume. The model you highlighted is not a large volume machine. Having said that I used...
