    Would something like a smart hinge be suitable. http://www.fine-boxes.com/smarthinges I know with 8mm wood thickness and the hinges being 8mm wide, you will see the length of the hinge down the side of the box, would this matter?

    They are not free but there is a couple of plans on www.plansnow.com at $10 which i assume is around £5-7, I dont think there that expensive. I bought a couple of plans when I first started and they are very good, easy to follow plans. Though you do need to work in inches!
