Well that didn’t go as planned.

I was helping a sparky mate pull some internet cable in. I gave him my brand spanking new drill bit that shot through the board and into a pipe below, we heard that angry snake that you referred to! In a panic we fired down to the basement - this was a commercial set up with 12 heating zones...

    Titanium hammers?

A bit of a random thought but would a palm nailer be any good? my thought was you may be able to use your non-dominant hand, assuming you don't suffer in that elbow as well.

Is there any adjustment on Reilang oil cans

Thanks Mwinfrance. I tried oiling the pin on the handle that goes through the body and that helped a little bit but not much. I might just empty it and pull the trigger for several mins to see it that loosens anything up. (y) Cheers David

Is there any adjustment on Reilang oil cans

Thanks very much ChaiLatte, the vid is really useful. I'll have a go and pull it apart to see if any part is rubbing, as this what it feels like when you pull the trigger, its not very smooth. Otherwise i will try your other suggestions (y) Cheers David

Is there any adjustment on Reilang oil cans

Hiya, I bought a Reilang oil can after reading some reviews on here. Where I work we have several hundred hinges on doors and windows that the boss like oiling once a year! and I thought the Reilang would be ideal. The problem I'm having is that when you pull the trigger a 6ft stream of oil...

    Startrite T30 spindle moulder

I could well be wrong but I think you may have a overload reset button, a white oblong bit of plastic next to the orange wheel. You say your machine was stored for 10 years, it may have just tripped due to everything being tight. For a press of a button, it maybe worth a punt.

    Saw and plane from Germany

That's good to know or maybe dangerous in my case!!!! I've looked at their site a few times but always wondered if there would be shipping problems. I can feel a hole coming in my wallet :) I don't need anything, I don't need anything.............

    Central Heating system help

Ahhhh, great. I got caught out once thinking it was an automatic one when it was manual, a quick turn got the system working. Just another thought, some radiator TRV can be bi-directional so don't need to be on the flow. If you take the TRV off do all the pins move freely? I've been caught out...

    Central Heating system help

Just a quick thought, you mentioned an air bubble. your first photo looks like it got a air vent at the top, is this a manual one that needs opening to release the air?

    First gazebo project, frame wobble

Sorry not much help, but really nice build, looks great. That first photo looks like 'Penrose stairs' where they seem to go up and down at the same time :)

Quickest way to stabilise crack in hardwood?

If you fancy going down the route of filling it with epoxy, Blacktail studio on youtube has some great videos that give a lot of tips and tricks. He does a lot of river tables but also has videos where he shows filling cracks like you mention.

    Moving granite worktop

A thought that is a bit left field. Could you cut the slab in 2 maybe 3 pieces which would make the handling/moving a lot easier, then bond it back together in its new home. Of course this would depend on if you want a clean look or don't mind the joins.

Axminster thickness and planner trade machine

Have you tried cleaning and waxing the bed. I have a Hammer thicknesser and planer that does this and needs the bed lubricating regularly. Otherwise you might have to look into adjusting the pressure of the outfield rollers.

What have I done wrong? Carcass not square

Seconded for checking your square is square. When I first started off I bought a set of 3 engineer squares, admittedly they were cheap. After banging my head against the wall as nothing came out square despite how careful I was. I found out that one square was out by a degrees one way, the...

    Cabinet door gap consistency

Would you be able to bend the knuckle to adjust the gap at all. I've seen on youtube 'normal' hinges on doors being bent to pull the door gap one way or another, and wonder if the same could be done for H hinge? In my head I feel if you twisted the top left of the knuckle anticlockwise that...

    Boiler problems.

I know Honeywell type valves have a lever that you can override the valve and lock open, Assuming it's a motor problem rather than a microswitch problem I would have thought this might fire the boiler. I don't know what make you have fitted but it might be worth your daughter having a look as...

Festool CTL CLEANTEC MIDI Dust Extractor

I have this model and think it is great, especially if you have other festool stuff. I find disconnecting the power and vacuum hose from the tool and onto the next one, keeps the things to trip over to just the two items, which I have now taped together. The only little hassle but by not much...

    Patina on brass.

I've used this on screws and screw cups in a listed manor house, they had a leak under the floor that had cupped the floor board really badly. We managed to kerf the back of the board and persuaded it to go back flat with brass screws. But the bright screws looked so out of place and just glared...

Hand planing hardwood - bad idea?

Something that used to happen to me was getting the stropping bit wrong. I concentrated 100% sharpening on the stones but not on the strop. I believe I was rolling the iron down the strop rather than holding the iron at the correct angle, this then caused the cutting edge to roll over. I worked...
