Metabo HC260C - how many amps?

You shouldn’t have any problems. I seem to remember running my one plus the chip extractor off the same extension lead without any problems. Thought you did need to let the planer get up to speed before turning on the extractor. I Definitely don’t recommend doing it this way but I didn’t have...

    Which planer-thicknesser?

Haha, I know that feeling. I'd just been given a bit of money I wasn't expecting, so rather than fill up the beer fridge I put it towards the A3.

    Which planer-thicknesser?

I upgraded to a Hammer A3. As well as the swing away tables, you can add in and out feed table extensions to it. Which at the time suited me well as I was milling a lot of long lengths.

    Which planer-thicknesser?

I'm pretty sure I started off with this planer thicknesses, if not it was one very similar. It was a capable machine and did everything I asked of it. One of the problems, well not really a problem but got tiresome quickly is if you have to change between planing to thicknessing many times in...

Unusual hand plane. What is it for?

That must be for veneered board, like those fancy saws that have a scoring blade before the main cutting blade. ;)

Charnwood W815 lathe keeps blowing fuses :(

As I have just pulled out some transport bolts from a new washing machine. Just a random thought that would the lathe have anything similar. Are you able to turn the spindle by hand?

Knowing when its not your day

I can sympathise. Many years ago when I was young- read that as stupid! I was cutting a blank on the table saw to do some turning, at some point I had taken the riving knife out which I don’t remember doing 🤷‍♂️ Anyway the blank pinched on the blade and was fired into my ribs. Crumbs did that...

    Lifting Internal manhole cover

We also have these bars, which I am sure are homemade but do help lifting the cover up and out the hole.

    Lifting Internal manhole cover

At work we have a similar type manhole cover. We have found the only way to lift it, is by using a pry bar between the metal edges/gap to lever up a side. Once the 'seal' gets broken we have half a chance to lift it out. The best tool we have found to work the best is in the following link...

    A small problem

If the cane is in regular use, could the dull patch be from sweat/grease from your hand getting ingrained into the surface? Then the top coat of BLO not adhering properly to it. Sorry, no help in how to cure it but just a random thought to what might be causing it! I wonder if there are any...

Looking for a fitting - don't know what it's called!

The tee nuts get hammered into the wood so would stay put ref=asc_df_B094V88SST - These might be better, you screw them into the wood, which would mean they are below the surface of the wood and would probably stand up better to being transported

Looking for a fitting - don't know what it's called!

    Wood tearout

You might like to research spiral router cutters. My understanding that they shear cut the wood a bit like a skew plane. I could well be wrong but it might be worth looking further into them

Why am I crap at measuring?

Something that caught me out was swapping between measuring tools. After a lot of head scratching wondering why my measurements where out, not by a lot but enough to cause problems getting things to fit. I think I had almost a 4mm difference between one particular (v cheap) tape measure...

Wall bed/Murphy bed hinge help please.

I been playing with the idea of putting a fold up bed in our front room that hides away into a cabinet so started reading this thread with keen interest. It never occurred to me to do a horizontal bed which would be a lot better in my case. Thanks very much.

I’ve recently fallen for this, not from that advert but from a website looked legit, I ordered shoes and got a scarf!!!! But they have your card details and all sorts of transactions were tried, lucky for me I paid with an account I only keep a bit of money in just in case this happens. Uber...
