    The Turning Quest 2012

Hi CHJ, Your boxes are amazing, may I ask how you shape the curved sections that make up the lid? Do you use a router and template? I am really intrigued how you get the glue lines so tight. Nice work. Cheers David =D>

    Egg cups

Spin the egg on a surface, touch the middle to stop the spin and let go quickly, if it then continues to turn - it is raw. If it stays still it is a boiled one.

    Turning basics DVD

Have you tried looking on You Tube? There is all sorts of woodturning videos on there, some good, some bad and some very ugly  If you look up HaydenHD he doesn't teach you so much as you get a good birdseye view of his turning, which shows the techniques put into practise

I'm still laughing at the microwave oven, I can just imagine the looks I would get building my own one of those hehe.

    eucalyptus burl [burr] bowl

absolutely stunning bowl. Forgive my ignorance but what does CA stand for? Is it Cascamite? And may I also ask how you filled the blank? Is this as simple as pouring it over and letting it soak in? Sorry for so many questions, I am very new to turning. Cheers David

I really like it. If your not happy with the pyramid at the top, does the piece actually need it? I put a thumb over that part of the picture and it looks really good. Cheers David

    Hello

Thank you for your warm welcome. I have been pinching the fire wood and making the kindling, and now the wood pile is getting low. I think I will now have to start on the logs to stack up on fire wood!!! I quite agree about the getting poor, I live far to close to Didcot where there is a very...

I would like to introduce myself, I am David and am relatively new to turning, which in my case is the most frustrating (at times) but highly enjoyable way of making kindling. I...
