    Heights and boundaries

Pretty sure I read it as if you build within 1mtr of the boundary the building must be substatially of non combustible materials. I thought the idea being that your wooden shed could if alight set fire to next doors home but if it was say a tin shed its less likely. Not that you couldn't fill it...

    Amazon Machine tool stand £15

If you need a stand for a mitre saw or anything else for that matter, its hardly worth contemplating making your own when this one is so cheap at the moment. Top frame 510 x 460 mm top frame with pre drilled mounting holes Adjustable legs allow the height to be set between 725 and 840 mm...

I fancy buying a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

I phoned Rexon today and had a chat with a guy in tech suport, interesting, he was saying that they make kit for lots of other trade names and supply B&Q, Wickes and make Erbauer too. He steered me away from the one I bought and suggested the Erbauer ERB2501SE as a much better saw and said it...

I fancy buying a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

I had a look at the Macallister one, was tempted as it had +- 45deg on it, but knowing what B&Q are likely to be for spares on these I went for the Rexon SM2150AE 216mm from my first post. All feels nice and tight, not found the stop for plunge cutting yet if it has one, but the motor is a...

I fancy buying a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Thanks for all the suggestions, going to show my ignorance now, you have pre-set mitre angles with these saws, but can you easily set any other angle other than the set ones so if say I wanted 42 deg I can just adjust using the scale pointer. I really should get out more! I could have gone to...

    TSaw ripping 4.8mtr length advise

Well Roger seems we are thinking alike, I did the Loooong cut with the circular saw and thats worked out fine. I have left myself with several 3mtr lengths to rip up same as the 4.8mtr one was going to get, so thinking 3mtr is more managable I will have a try over the weekend and see what...

    TSaw ripping 4.8mtr length advise

ok, thanks for the advice guys, I have frightened myself off the TS idea now. Time to get big bertha the skill saw out instead. I have plenty of sacrifical off cuts to place under the boards I need to cut. It will be a lot safer cutting that length on the lawn. I was trying to use the TS more...

    TSaw ripping 4.8mtr length advise

I have to cut around 10mm off the side of a 4.8mtr 150x32mm deck board, I have never attempted to rip such a long board before and would like some advise on safety and of course not damaging my timber. I intend to have the wife and one other support the length as its floating off the ends of...

I fancy buying a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

I have been looking at 2 and could do with some advice on which would be the better buy. I realise I am bottom end of the market yet again but my use will be occasional so trying to keep the costs down. Rexon SM2150AE 216mm Sliding Compound Mitre Saw £116 screwfix...

JML or other screw extractors. Do they work?

Yes they are def PZ2 heads, I bought a large amount of replacement screws over the weekend and tested them against the fitted ones. Chalk and cheese, I could fire my new screws in and out of a bit of 4x2 as many times as I liked without the heads becoming damaged at all, the ones I am replacing...

JML or other screw extractors. Do they work?

Yes another option Roger, I have a couple of 5/8" plug cutters, last resort though, gluing plugs back in decking and shaping to suit grove. I'm going to have a few holes where screws were that I will have to make little bungs for anyway I think. Or maybe they will gust fill up with debris and...

JML or other screw extractors. Do they work?

FFC thanks for the reply, yes my feeling is that if your lucky and the winds in the right direction they can work....maybe. Ta for that link, I did search Pete honest, yours seems to be more aimed at hex head machine screw removal and I dont ever have problems getting those out or broken...

JML or other screw extractors. Do they work?

I have to remove some decking boards that have those green coated pozi headed screws, some of the heads are a bit chewed and I doubt they will come out normal fashion. Anyone tried the JML kit from the likes of Homebase? The problem I see is although the heads are chewed they are hardened and...

Anyone ever used shipping containers as a workshop?

I had 2 containers that I used for storage of industrial engineering spares. Both were ex freezer units sited outside, nice and cool in the summer and with a wall mounted heater on a stat they were reasonably comfy in the winter. No condensation that I remember. Worked well for me, cutting the...
