    Hand Held Vac

If you have cordless tools is there one that uses the same battery platform? I have quite a few Einhell cordless tools, including a pretty effect vacuum cleaner. That said any hand-held vac isn't much use for large chips/shavings - hence having an old Henry too . . and a broom, dust pan & brush!

Sold Workshop Machines - ALL NOW SOLD

Yep - installation will be undertaken this morning! - and by some sort of miracle I found that I had a "step-down" hose adaptor that fits and allows me to connect direct to the plumbed-in dust system around the workshop. A great improvement over my Henry and cyclone-on-a-box combo. The other...

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

Hey, lighten up there - the comment was really about her so-called "script" not the person - she's paid to do the acting and say the inane words - it could equally be a bloke . . . Alan Carr comes out with scripted drivel.

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

They do, or at least a friend who is a top-notch pastry chef thinks Bake Off is so far removed from reality to be ridiculous.

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

The Great British Woodwork Off . . . . ? The current series judges have, to me, a dubious fit for the job . . . . one would have thought the likes of Paul Sellars or Peter Sefton both of whom have skills and teaching backgrounds would be more appropriate.

    back to woodworking

Yes the good stuff should be OK, at least on one side - but nobody seems to be selling any, anywhere, at any price :( Watchng the US YouTubers with plywood projects it always looks like very poor "core" quality with 18mm (3/4" in US parlance) only being about 5 or 7 plies?

    back to woodworking

Ah - if you're getting offcuts you can work around any defects/plugs in the surfaces - I hunted around with suppliers all over the country for "perfect" (or at least one side perfect in the large-ish sheet I needed) Birch ply and failed to find anything :( - hence the compromise with Stretek.

    back to woodworking

I'd be interested to know that too. I've just finished making a table with Stretek Poplar-faced ply - I'm pleased with the result as a piece of furniture but the grain/figuring on the clear-finish Stretek isn't as atrractive as Birch (which I used for the table's predecessor about 4 years ago -...

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

Err, they do have the design time - it said that at the start of the bench-making . . . they design the thing they're going to make and then specify the materials/cut-list that they need well in advance of the filming. Part of my dislike is the dreadful style and poor attempts at humour from...

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

I managed 20 minutes before I decided it was utter drivel and switched it off.

    Small Workshop Build - 4.8m x 2.4m

My 2p - you may be short but if you ever want to sell your house then a too-low shed roof my be an issue to a prospective purchaser?? I'd make it "proper height" ... years ago we went to view a house and then the door opened the 5'3" bloke's face fell seeing me at 6'4" - the ceiling heights (it...

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

My order from Temu arrived yesterday (bag tossed onto the front step by EVRI) - of 4 items 3 which related to woodworking pencils were fine, in fact very good - the 4th being nozzles for caulking tubes were an absolute joke, being the wrong size and so wide across the pointed bit that anything...

Anyone tried Abodo heat treated wood ?

I used ThermoWood for wall-cladding in our garden (c110 x 25 planks) - all of the traits above appeared (it was recommeded NOT to apply any treatment*) - I'd be concerned about doing anything structural with it. That said our greenhouse is made from the same stuff - I guess the frame and...

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

I've bought stuff from Aliesxpress, Banggood & Temu - the first two are fine and straightforward - Temu has a lot of bait and switch stuff where you see the item at a crazy price, add it to your basket and find that it's only part of the product and the thing originally pictured is way moe...

    Purple meths

The problem with red diesel and using it in a car on the road is that regardless of colour it has some sort of "trace" in it that tests positive . . . years ago when I had a diesel LandRover I was stopped a couple of times and had the tank dipped by the Customs & Excise people (innocent!) -...

    Purple meths

I've found that if you leave the purple meths bottle in the light/sunlight for a couple of months it fades to clear.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I was thinking strength as the board doesn't look that thick and 2 metres is a loooooong span (if somebody sits on it!!)

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Table looks good (I've made a couple in similar hairpin leg style but in Birch ply) - a little surprised you didn't brace it lengthwise too?
