    Track Saw

Absolutely agree on the principles - and when you do upgrade/replace if the kit has been looked after it'll sell on ebay or Gumtree et al so there is a contribution to the new expenditure. My £100 Macallister track saw does the job that I need for the moment (with replaced blade from Saxon)

    Rutlands tools

The other 3 corner clamps I ordered on 19 Dec arrived this morning - from China - I can now finish the frames for the display cases I'm making (y) And - I noticed Rutlands had these Buy MFT Clamps from Rutlands Limited - Rutlands at £50 a pair (Amazon has them £100!!!) - I bought a pair on...

    Rutlands tools

Yep - I saw a review (Dennis at Hooked on Wood) and bought 1 Banggood clamp to see if I liked it - came in 5 days! - excellent, 3 more are winging their way to me for a job that awaits. I noticed that Rutlands have loads of the Banggood/Drillipro kit but in black and twice the price rather than...

    Show us yer .... Bird-feeders

Have a look at some of the Men's Shed club websites - they seem keen on making bird related stuff.

    Tracks

I got a wierd email this morning

Ah, that makes some sense. In a similar vein - I had a letter out of the blue a few months ago that referred to some mystery relating to my late father and finance - bearing in mind that my father died in 1994 this seemed like a potential scam . . . but after a bit of research the ender...

I got a wierd email this morning

Ditto - one wonders where they get the details - we had an oddity yesterday where my daughter, who has been married for 12 years and uses her married surname, received a scam letter (the usual £7 million quid) that was addressed to her in her maiden name and with her correct postal address (she...

    Axminster price increasing

Perhaps we've been cosseted with Axminster (and other suppliers) benefiting from China's unstoppable march towards world domination with massive volumes to flood the market and delivered at low/no margin cost at the manufacturer? Have to agree that some of the stuff I've bought from...

    Penguin Donkey

I think I'll need a lot of wet and windy days as my SketchUp knowledge is below zilch! - I shall persevere

    Penguin Isokon Donkey wip

HOJ on the other donkey thread has uploaded a pdf working drawing that's almost a cut-list. I'll probably post my progress on that thread (it may be sloooooow!)

    Penguin Donkey

Thanks! That's brilliant and a great start - I'm going to make one from MDF to start with to see if it works rather than risk the birch ply cost. I assume that the marked dimensions are as the original item? Progress may be slow as I'm backed with "orders" for stuff made from pallet timber...

Birch Plywood for Furniture - Online Retailers

I've used these people CutList | Sheet materials Cut & Edged, Spray Prime/Lacquer, Shaker doors - for top grade birch ply - they cut the sheets for me to the sizes I specified . . . I did get a price for delivery which I can't recall bu t was reasonable . . . in the event I was going that...

    Penguin Isokon Donkey wip

Brilliant! I've been hankering after making one of these having had a genuine Isokon Donkey Mk2 back in the 1960s (no idea what happened to it :() There's an old thread that I brought back to life yesterday - but this one, which I had missed, is really helpful - has it been...

    Penguin Donkey

Thanks!!! - That's just what I need - have to admit I seldom look at Projects otherwise I would have seen it. I acquired* some lengths of beech today that will be pretty good for the legs - I intend to make the boxes with 12mm top grade birch play and leave exposed edges rather than paint it...

    Penguin Donkey

:) - the thing I remember most about Barry Bucknell was his sawing ..... the timber had obviously been sawn part-way through off camera and the fuzzy black and white picture didn't show the cut very clearly - his saw went through the cuts like a knife through butter. I must see if he's on...

    Penguin Donkey

Thanks - I've screen-grabbed that and made a large print - the angles are, I think 15 degrees so i may be able to scale up and work out the component sizes. .. but I'm still looking for plans!

    Penguin Donkey

I stumbled across that a few minutes ago - just need to have a crash course in SketchUp to to see whether it makes sense. Having had a donkey I have a pretty good recollection of how it looked, and I have the dimensions - it probably just the angles that I need to know and be able to cut...

    Penguin Donkey

I know this a very old thread but I'm thinking of trying to make one (the Mk 2 version with the white boxes) - has anyone ever found any plans? - or even created some? I would make it in 12mm birch ply and leave it unpainted with bare edges . . not authentic but it's a look that we like and...

    Christmas Soldier

.... briliant - you'll need to make a load more and then you can have a scene from The Nutcracker :)

Who wants one of these for xmas

It's on a par in my book with the people who spend an inordinate amount of time making exotic tools and clamps from wood when metal would be far more sensible and effective (I have the guy on YouTube with the wooden drill press in mind)
