Dust extractor for garage size man cave

Did you mean "BUY" the blast gates? (T is next Y on the Kb!) - NO - I made them - pretty simple - I bought a length of HDPE Sheet NATURAL & BLACK - High Density Polyethylene PEHD Polythene 100mm x 1000mm x 8mm from Trent Plastics on ebay - cost £10.32 delivered - enough to make 2 blast...

Where to buy blue paper roll these days

ebay has more than you can shake a stick at - I've bought loads from different sellers - all did the job - the branded stuff is just too expensive

Dust extractor for garage size man cave

The link I posted up-thread has the system that works for me (if you want any other pix or details PM me) - some machines connected all the time, some wheeled out and the hose connected to a spare blast-gate . . . I'm just adding another blast-gate to attach a hose for cleaning up the benches -...

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

The Parkside saw looks to be exactly the same item as the Axminster bandsaw and the Perform that Ax used to sell - 1400 blade. I've had a Perform model for about 15 months and I can't fault it - cutting softwood, hardwood, polyprop, perspex with no problem. The fence measurements are bit...

    B&D urban myth?

B&D drill from 1970 still going strong - lots and lots of use with 2 self-build cottages in the 1980s and loads of conversion work in the 90s - demoted to use my cordless in about 2012 but I do keep a countersink bid in it for quick use.

    MFT Table Best Accessories

Have a look at from @petermillard - the cheap (Banggood or Aliexpress) clamps are brilliant - at the moment I think Alie have them for about £27

    Disc sander switch

The spec for the specific machine is a bit vague about whether it's an NVR but the identical machines from other brands (badge engineered) do say they have an NVR - so that's probable. As my post above a "new switch" is on the way to me under warranty - whether that's just the on/off part or...

Nobex mitre saw - blade jamming

Ditto comments about silicone lube and long strokes of the blade - I don't use mine very often but I have an "extension platform" that I fit beside the saw bed to support the longer work piece, and use small clamps to attach work to the upright fence. Saw and extension are both clamped to the...

    The Woodworker All gone..

Congratulations - I've dropped a PM to Scholar if he wants to pass them on in due course as per his post - we appear to live near each other.

    Disc sander switch

Just heard from them - replacement unit is being sent - from Germany .... hopefully not delayed by the current shipping issues - to paraphrase a classic headline (which was about fog) "BREXIT - Europe cut off from England"

    Disc sander switch

I have a Ferrex Disc/Belt sander (rebadge Sheppach) that appears to have a faulty on/off switch - pressing the ON button and it starts and runs as normal - but taking your finger off the switch and it stops - i.e. it doesn't "lock" on. The machine is under warranty and I'm waiting on a response...

    Amazon versus Screwfix

Yep - I think it's simply the difference between Amazon selling the items themselves and the merchants that use Amazon as a front-end promoter (and possibly 3rd part fulfilment house) - all this just reinforces the need to spend a bit of time on research rather just clicking the BUY button.

    Amazon versus Screwfix

The Toostation hierarchy is actually the other way round TP owns Wickes and Toolstation (and who remembers the paper catalogues from the early days of Wickes?)

    Amazon versus Screwfix

Ditto - I can remember buying steel slotted screws when they went by imperial lengths and a number (as in 2" number 8s )- must have been about 1983 or so from the original address in Yeovil - IIRC they branched out into various things like wallplugs and other fixings.

    Router table project

I bought an aluminium router insert plate from Banggood or Aliexpress and the drilled it to work with the base of the cheapie Energer router that I built into the table - added a very basic scissor lift from the same source, with a bit of tweaking, and adding a switch gave me what I wanted (the...

Tent / Marquee as medium-term workshop?

I saw that video - the whole plan seemed to be flawed to me for all the reasons you suggest - to me the only upside was that he got the tent for free!!

    Who sells pre-stain wood conditioner?

Wood Finishes Direct is my (online) supplier of choice - BUT I stained some ordinary pine recently and, as recommended by a friend, wiped it down with methylated spirits (sparingly, on a rag) then let it dry before applying the stain - 3 thin coats, excess wiped off and a very light de-nib with...

Dust extractor for garage size man cave

My workshop is a single garage that, apart from housing a wall-hung boiler and large HW tanks, is used for woodwork, bicycle fettling and storage of 3 bikes - the dust extraction and filtration I have is all home-brewed! A friend wanted to replicate what I had so I produced a "tech sheet" for...
