    Applying green baize

Copydex due to be delivered today - the baize I applied to a small desktop flight of drawers using it is perfect - glued on with an overlap at the edges and then trimmed with a scalpel and cutting mat. The case bases will be done today.

... whatever happened to chipboard (and blockboard for that matter) ?

    MFT router table

For the first attempt with glue I tried the epoxy but it wasn't too successful, the UHU (smells like aeroplane glue from days of yore) seems to form a weld with the plastics - I did expirement with solvent weld but that didn't seem to work either. I've just made another gate for the system -...

    MFT router table

The blast gates have a 40mm tee with the flange cut off on one side and 40mm straight coupler cut in half (both push fit) - I glued them into a 48mm hole in the polyprop, obviously flush with the inner face, using UHU glue - I coated the hole, pushed the fittings in and turned them to spread the...

    Applying green baize

Thanks - I do have one 125ml bottle - I'm just about to order another 4 bottles from Mr Bezos having tried a patch test this morning - I've also found something else where I need to replace the baize so hopefully that will be enough glue!

    Applying green baize

That was the conclusion I was coming too - I do have some (from Amazon) but would need to get more for the surface area.

    MFT router table

Ah - I see - it's a sort of equivalent of a Y-piece with 2 inlets and 1 outlet? I can't remember offhand what size I ordered - see this for the supplier KCT | eBay Stores I've made single, inline, blast-gates in the same style but with 8mm black polyprop sheet and 40mm Screwfix push...

Are you sure the download link is the correct file - it doesn't appear to have the cap file added to the .zip

Ah - I'll download the file - thanks. My MFT has 20mm holes but the first prototype is coming up oversized at about 21+mm - he's going to tinker with it - he's 100 miles away so there's a postal delay! I'll report back.

We've got the bench dog file but can't seem to find the square sliding cap - is it there, or is it us??

    Applying green baize

I have two display cases (app 70 x 40cm) that need to have green baize fitted to the MDF base - what sort of adhesive? Options in my mind are : Spraymount, PVA woodglue, Unibond undiluted, Copydex - any ideas/views/experiences please? .. I know you can get self-adhesive but the reviews aren't...

Bench looks good - can't quite see how the blast gate works - can you explain please? BTW pond hose from ebay is a LOT cheaper than Charnwood's stuff - and works with Screwfix Floplast 40mm push fit

My "supplier" has already made a prototype to check on my bench! - it's winging its way to me in the mail.

I'm in an "exposed plywood edge" phase of furniture making . . . so far a dining table, a matching console table and a storage unit to sit beside our coffee machine - a 4 drawer chest is in the design stage.

Dogs look useful - especially the bolt and clamping idea . . . . I've sent the file to my 3d printing supplier (a.k.a. my brother (y))

Agreed - but @petermillard may have some comments! - it's horses for courses . . . if it's painted then the saving on cost for MDF against Birch ply is worthy of consideration (having tested other ply qualities anything less than Birch is not great for furniture in my view)

. . .slightly OT - the silo as a workshop sounds pretty cool - be fascinated to see some pix! [Grand Designs recently had a silo that was demountable and turned into a bar for outdoor events]

    Method of joining simple bookcase

. . . as an alternative to an overall back panel what might look quite good is for each shelf to have a low back, say 1/3 of the height of the shelf space, which would a) stop books falling through the shelves, and b) if fixed to the shelves and the sides afford some strength and stability...

    Method of joining simple bookcase

I would suggest that it depends on the size (especially width of the shelves) and whether there is a back in the bookcase to keep it together and square - and subject to the finish (paint?) could you cut rebates for the shelves to sit in rather than dominoes? - if the material is 22mm that...
