    Stanley rb10

There's an RB10 on ebay at the moment with bids at about a tenner. I had one years ago but it disappeared - purely for reasons of nostalgia I bought a mint condition one a couple of months ago . . . it planes, for very basic use - that's about all I can say! (although I was surprised to find...

    Are cheap cyclones any good?

Another positive comment - mine was about £15 - mounted on a box made of OSB, with a lid fitted with draught excluder and toggle clips - powered by a Henry (never have to empty the Henry bag - all gets caught in the box)

Looking for B/BB 3050mm Baltic birch

cutlist.co.uk near High Wycombe stocks 3100 x 1220 in 18 mm B/BB Birch faced ply - they may offer other boards in that size, worth asking them

    Cheap spray mount

I don't do "fine" stuff . . . . normally fairly simple shapes/letters at least 20cm x 20cm workpieces - but it does go off as you say

Einhell or Excel budget Plunge Saw?

I bought a Macallister track/plunge saw from Screwfix for £99 - does the job (2 x 700mm rails that join together pretty accurately) - the one thing that's poor is dust extraction (connected to a cyclone and Henry)

    Cheap spray mount

I use Copydex for fixing paper templates to sheet material for cutting on the scroll or bandsaw - just peels off

    Pandemic projects

I had one of the last of the earlier model Scimitars - late 1975 IIRC, brand new . . . I only had it 6 weeks until a mini-cab driver drove out of a side turning and hit me broadside . . no injuries to me but the fibreglass body was split the whole length of one side and the chassis was bent so...

    Desk unit plywood?

If you Google Specialised Panel Products they have a useful technical sheet that explains all the plywood grades . . . and the supplier that I've used for absolute top quality Birch ply is Cutlist, near High Wycombe (they have a useful price list with grades/sizes etc .... including bigger...

    Applying green baize

UPDATE - Copydex worked a treat - painted it on, gave it about 5 minutes to get tacky rather than wet and laid the baize on, smoothing it as I went. Left about 3cm overlap all round and then when dry trimmed it off with a surgical scalpel on a cutting mat. Perfect. Only downside was that...

    Desk unit plywood?

I've yet to find any Chinese Poplar ply that I would want to use for furniture . . .

    Kings Cross Tube Station

A sobering post . . . by pure chance I saw my father about 40 minutes before the fire started - we stopped and chatted for about 15 minutes . . . we were both changing tube trains, him towards the Northern Line to Bank and the Central Line home, me to the Circle Line to Paddington and home.

Pocket hole screws. Length vs drill position...

I use quite a lot of 18mm material but can't recollect the size - I use Trend screws . . . I think they're 30mm looking at the Trend range? If I remember I'll take one out of something and measure it.

Pocket hole screws. Length vs drill position...

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question (or doing it wrong) the stop collar on the drill should just allow the tip to be just shy of the exit on the workpiece with the pocket hole. (I am assuming you have the normal/proper pocket hole drill with a narrow section at the end ? This might help in...

Confession. I have a Parkside problem!

Unfortunately those battery angle grinders are standard equipment for bike thieves - they cut through most locks as if slicing bread :(

    Applying green baize

I try to avoid going into WH Smith - they just pester you about buying chocolate - and don't have much stock of anything else!

    Applying green baize

Thanks - that's interesting the - thing I re-covered yesterday had the old blaize just glued at the edges (IIRC about 35 years ago, by me - size about 60 x 15cm ) and had stretched and creased - probably a lot to do with the quality of the felt/baize. The new stuff is quite thick but does seem...

    Method of joining simple bookcase

It appears that it is Blockboard | 18mm - Builders Marketplace or Blockboard | Furniture Boards | Wood Panels | Hanson Plywood - of several suppliers I'm aware of. BUT the problem like most large sheet materials is delivery feasibility and cost thereof unless you can collect it.

The irritating world of discount codes (yandles or ffx - any working ones?)

IME the "offer codes" offered by loads of websites seldom work - they are : out of date - or very specific to obscure products that nobody wants. And of course the websites then have a mail-list that you've signed up to and bombard you with email shots from all and sundry.
