    Scroll Saw Blades

Some people suggest that they find pinned blades tricky to fit - hence my comment . . and the ability to fit a blade "sideways" is useful. I've certainly had my £10 worth from my machine!

    Scroll Saw Blades

. . . and the same machine was also badged as Performance Power for sale at B&Q - I bought mine from Gumtree for £10 - excellent for basic stuff, which is all I need. Pinned blades are no big deal to fit/use once you get the hang of them.

    Ripping down fence pickets

Without fully understanding what you are doing/making I would have thought for repeat work that a small, basic table saw would be the simplest solution (something like the Aldi/Lidl marketed stuff) - usually to be found on ebay/Gumtree. Set the blade height and fence, featherboard and use a...

    Scroll Saw Blades

Here's a range : Scroll Saw Blades - Sawing - Machinery Accessories - Accessories | Axminster Tools - you'll need to know the length of the blade, the number of teeth/width (depends on the material) and whether it has pins to fit in the machine or just a clamp mechanism. Beware - some...

    Book/Craft Storage Shelving Unit

I'd go for MR MDF - have a look at @petermillard 10 Minute Workshop on YouTube - he's made loads of stuff that's probably similar to your project

    Cheapo Nail gun

Totally agree on getting a compressor. My nail/brad/staple gun is battery driven - it's the same badge engineered tool that (I'm sure) is available from Clarke/Machine Mart and Draper - mine is a VonHaus from Domu brands. Have to say it's excellent - I've just made a timber lath fence with...

    Buying a Tracksaw

Not unusual behaviour with B&Q (and to a lesser extent with Screwfix) - products at seemingly great prices but they don't actually have them available at all, anywhere. ... and a rant - I Googled a specific adhesive the other day - first at the top of the list was Screwfix "we don't stock XYZ -...

    Lidl DIY tools 20th June

Yep - the clamps (larger ones) are pretty good for the money - I have about 20 - some Aldi, some Lidl. I reckon the drills are probably use-once, throw-away . .... - especially the psuedo Forstners.

    Table saw vs band saw

Ignore that - I had second thoughts on the table saw - I don't need the money, although I could use the space, so have decided to hang on to it for the odd use it gets.

    Quick Poll

Whichever is cheaper of OSB or shuttering ply (or nowadays whichever you can get hold of)

    Digital callipers.

I gave up with digital calipers because of battery life and "slippage" - gone back to the good old sliding model (but it is an expensive top quality item) - I also have a dial caliper although the throat is only about 18mm.

    Table saw vs band saw

Interesting - I've just put table saw on Gumtree this afternoon - can't remember the last time I used it. For the stuff I do then the bandsaw or track saw does 95% of it - and the collection of routers (I have 6 for some unexplained reason - 1 mounted in a table) does rebates etc - my heavy...

    Lidl DIY tools 6th June

OK - "different rails" ;) The Lidl 2021 riving knife is possible an enhancement but as @petermillard suggests cutting sheet materials is usually not an issue with the cut closing behind the blade.

Reusing wood from old antique furniture?

Unless it's in very poor condtion I wouldn't break it down - it may seem to you to be of no value but someone may want it . . . there are lots of charities that take old furniture and either sell it (the main operator near here has a source for disposal . . . . I'm not sure it isn't sent to...

    Lidl DIY tools 6th June

The plunge saw - @petermillard has just done a quick video today on the 2021 version of the track saw - he still prefers the MacAllister, mainly as the Lidl has proprietary rails.

    Lidl DIY tools 6th June

ebay owns Gumtree - BUT at least you get to make direct contact with the other party for delivery and cash payment with no fees (although geographical location impacts on usefulness of the ads . . . that said I (in Warwickshire) sold a run of granite worktops to someone from Hastings on...

    Lidl or MacAllister Plunge Saw

Actually different washers - one to reduce the bore . . . the other slightly wider in the metal I assumed was to take up thickness (bit like the washer I have for my angle grinder to accept thin(ner) discs)

    Lidl or MacAllister Plunge Saw

A couple of blades I've bought came with a washer/ring to take up any blade thickness variations - IIRC they were from Saxton Blades

3" brass parliament / projection hinges?

Must they be 3" ? - can you cut a bit out of the door and frame to use 102mm/4" hinges? - you can then get the heavy duty brass Parliament (the "shaped" ones) which look really great. I fitted them to a very heavy solid hardwood internal door into the kitchen at our previous house - no...
