    Scroll or band saw

Bandsaws are a bit scary - but certainly the tool of choice in your original question. Setting up and using a bandsaw safely needs some knowledge, seek advice/tuition before using the machine.

Ikea/MFC cabinets - adding face frame and doors

I would have a look at the possibility of rebating the face frames (say 5mm) so that they fitted "into the face of the cabinets" to give some strength and support, and fix them with something like NoMoreNails, perhaps with thin brads too. Something like this (in plan view) . . . and I'd go...

Pest proofing my garage / workshop

First - what is attracting them? - is there food of any sort? Second - remember that mice can get through a hole not much bigger in diameter than a pencil . . . as I understand it they take a run at it and their bodies "compress" as they go through.

Metering the workshop electrical supply query

Q1 - You can buy a simple electric meter (like the old-style, pre-Smart ones) from electrical wholesalers - just wire it in and you get readings. I installed one to monitor the usage on a holiday cottage that I had that was part of my house - they also get used in HMOs Q2 - Dunno!

For Sale Brass blowlamp - ornament or use!

Primus type brass paraffin pressure blowlamp - not been used for a while so needs a good clean. The pump washer appears OK so fill with fuel and away you go! - or a classic ornament for the workshop/man-cave. I have two, this one is surplus to requirements. (I still use a paraffin blowlamp...

Sold Glue pot - double chamber, old style!

One for the enthusiast - a steel and iron gluepot - the inner cup is about half a pint at a guess - just fill with water, put the cup in with glue to melt and put it on the stove. This must be somewhere around 100 years old as it was my grandfather's . . . . I don't need it for Titebond :)...

Joints for a set of shelves ?

Have a look at @petermillard on YT - he has some videos about fitted shelves, especially angles etc. Have to say I concur with TheTiddles on the issues with the ceiling angles etc

Gluing end grain is stronger than you think.

It seems that lots of YouTube chaps have had something to say on the subject - including Stumpy Nubs, Steve Ramsey and Colin Knecht?

    Mini CNC machine

My intended use, when I get the time, is to some engraving and cutting out (that's with the routing attachment rather than a laser) My brother has a small 3D printer and has made a few bits and pieces of workshop stuff for me - he also seems to be able to make Lego parts for his grandson...

    Mini CNC machine

Hmm - I spotted the new posts on the thread and realised that I have STILL not got to do much with the little CNC machine I bought back in March other than build it (and cut the plywood to make a box for it) - looks like something for the approaching long winter evenings! Where does the time go?

    Plywood wanted 1/64” thickness

Google "plasticard" - as it sounds, a plasticised card - model makers use it. Amazon has it, cheap as chips

    Plywood wanted 1/64” thickness

The job sounds like making a "pad" for a box containing jewellery or similar - years ago when I ran a printing business we supplied a company with a heavy card (~350um ) as the base material that he then applied foam and very thin "velvet" type material. [We also supplied printed inserts for...

New woodworking TV show on BBC2

Not the Jay Blades prog (given up with that) . . . . BUT Grand Designs last night showed some pretty amazing carpentry/joinery skills . . . albeit a weird house and location.

Should I buy an 8mm collet for my existing 8mm bits, or just rebuy bits to fit my new router

That's pretty much what I was meaning! As an aside, the little cabinet with the panel door etc in video is the project that you do on the Axminster router course . . . I did it at the start of last year - a good value couple of days - and I'm looking now at my cabinet on the wall in front of me.
