    Cheap Scarifier?

I just placed an order for the Ferrex - on the basis of the 3 year warranty and using it twice or thereabouts per year on our 100m3 of lawn . . . if it blows up in April 2025 it'll be going back for a refund (y) As an aside, have to say the few cheapie/non-critical tools I have from ALDI have...

Combining a router and Router table

I don't know specifically about these two items but "how incompatible" are they ? - I cobbled a router into a table by drilling new mounting holes in the table's mounting plate to register with the router base . . . . [Usual caveats on safety and commonsense!!]

    Anybody else love bandsaws?

Things have moved on since you saw my workshop . . . bike storage has been re-arranged (compressed by staggering the racks with top-to-tail bikes that "interlock") and all the secondhand wood now lives in the shed, just the good stuff in the workshop. But still could do with more room.

    Storage Crates

IKEA has a range of plastic boxes in lots of sizes - work fine for me with lots of different items in them - in the loft and in the shed. Lids are loose fit but I think they sell some clips for them? BUT my favourite storage crates, which I have arranged like "drawers" in a custom built...

    Anybody else love bandsaws?

I guess it really depends on what I'm sawing - most of the time it's relatively large (i.e. not 100mm strips) pieces of sheet materials - I have the Benchdogs rail clips and collection of dogs and stops that work with my MFT to get square and repeat cuts (I'm not averse to screwing a stop-block...

    Anybody else love bandsaws?

Yep - I only have a pretty small bandsaw (much regret that I didn't buy a bigger one) - really useful and with fence, fingerboards, mitre slide etc . Mine is also on a wheeled base with the table at the same height as my main work- and MFT benches for in and outfeed - oh, and dust extraction...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I fitted a load of cladding - boards about 110 wide and 2 screws (Spax, stainless steel Torx) at c90 cm centres (i.e. 2 screws across the board width, then @ 90cm centres along the length as the pic) - all I did was make a jig from a piece of the cladding board about 10cm long, with two pieces...

Post a pic of something you have recycled

This started life as a 1960s hifi cabinet with tape deck, amp, record deck and storage for LPs and cassettes (remember them?) - the electronic works were all shot so a bit of woodwork and a refurbish French polish to turn it into a "campaign style) drinks cabinet (or other use quirky cabinet)...

    Cheap mahogany table

Yep - looks like a chipboard veneered top .... the brass catches for linking the leaves together are the best bits, they could be re-used!

    Workshop dust filter

That looks remarkably like the Record and other boxes - just rebadged and a different colour (sorry, "color" !!)

    Workshop dust filter

Just buy one - the cable is about 1.5 metres as stated - my machine is fixed to a cradle on the ceiling with the cable extended by about 3 metres to the power socket. The one issue that seems to be common is that the beam on the remote control must be quite narrow - it needs to be pointed...

AXMINSTER CRAFT AC1400B BANDSAW ON OFFER

I have the Aximinster in its previous inacarnation when Axminster sold it under another badge in 2019 (and yes it probably is the same as the Draper) - excellent little machine BUT the word "little" - I'm only a hobbyist with the odd commercial commission but regret not buying a slightly larger...

Best finish for antique pine look?

There are some Fiddes wax products that are like Briwax but IME easier to apply and buff up.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

:):) - it would have been but I have a portable bench that goes outside so I built it in front of my garage .... pre-built the three frames and cut/drilled all the rest of the slats and braces etc ("dry assembled" with loads of trigger clamps to check it all worked) then stained all the...

Fruit, veg and plant stand for a corner shop - made for the supplier who rents it to the shop. Pretty simple construction with pocket hole joinery, partially pre-built and assembled on site. Finished with two coats of an antique wax-based stain for a rustic, artisan look. Pictured ready to...

    Dust Extraction Advice please

The sliding panel idea, I think, was Keith Brown? - I looked at it but it was a bit clumsy. The other thing you should consider is an air cleaner - the Record AC400 seems to be the beast of choice (also available rebadged from other brands) - mine sits in a cradle attached to the ceiling, works...

    Dust Extraction Advice please

Yes - it's an Evolution Rage 3S - the dust port that you just about see on the crown guard in the picture has a hose connected to it and that's fairly effective even at full extend - the second hose's opening is fixed right by the gap in the fence and that collects a fair amount of dust. If...

    Dust Extraction Advice please

Mitre saw shroud - showing pipe run and the blast gate (orange connector was 3d printed) The swivel on the saw is restricted to about 20 degrees from 90 - any more than that (seldom - I have another chop saw I take outside) and I remove the box. There is a Y-piece inside the box for the two...

    Dust Extraction Advice please

I "plumbed" my workshop with a run of 40mm plastic waste pipe that's then connected through a cyclone (mounted on wooden box to catch the dust) powered by a Henry - with home-made blast gates. Works fine for hand tools, track saw, band saw, mitre saw, planer/thicknesser etc. The tools are...
