Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

The description texts for the plywood from both suppliers are identical . . has to be same/connected business(es) - the differences are prices and carriage/collect options. Feedback is variable. As you say it may be worth a look if I'm there - it's only about 15 miles out of my way.

Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

Same text . . . not coincidental - they must be connected. ebay is littered with the product at a range of prices. I'm beginning to wonder whether to bother as it does all look a bit dubious.

Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

Interesting that it's listed as A/A (i.e. the best of the best) at a bargain price - a search on the address for the business (and Company No & VAT Reg) gives two residential addresses . . I have to go Yorkshire in a couple of weeks so I'll see if I can view the actual board and if it's any...

Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

Thanks - I'll give them a shout but another branch of Latham was distinctly unhelpful when I spoke the other day. The sheet I'm looking for must have an area 1600 x 900 that has no plugs on one side (it's for a dining table top that will be clear-coated)

Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

Hmm - interested - but the board in the pic has repair plugs in it? I'll PM you anyway

Sourcing Birch plywood - the good stuff!

I'm trying to find a supplier for 1 sheet (8 x 4) birch ply in 9 (or 12mm) for a furniture project - it needs to have one side free of "plugs" and be long-grain (and the light Birch colour) so B/BB according to the standard specs I've done a lot of searching but not found any supplier that...

SDS drills and drill bits... and chisels

I wouldn't have a cordless SDS - I don't think they can match the power of corded.

Tool deals website - I check daily.

. . . make sure that the products aren't either used, refurbished or mail-order returns . . and cross-check prices against mainstream suppliers - I've looked at quite a few items over the past 6 months or so and managed to better the "deal" prices on almost everything. Bear in mind that the...

    Woodworking Guild of America (WWGoA)

Sorry if this is a bit of a rant . . . there have been several promotions from various sources for this organisation, aimed at UK woodworkers - at what appears to be a bargain introductory annual subscription, usually $1.49. I had a look at the site - yes some interesting stuff, some free...

Cheese slicer kit in the UK?

It's a seller in China but they, along with many such businesses, bulk ship stock to warehouses in the UK where they ship in days - I've bought lots of stuff that's arrived in days. (On ebay you'll frequently see "Glenfield" as the location - there's a massive drop-shipping business there, near...

Pillar drill chuck falls off - replace spindle?

The chuck fell off my Scheppac drill the other day for no apparent reason - I just pushed I back on and gave it a tap with a soft-faced hammer to help it on its way up the taper - so far so good.

Who are the go to Cabinet Hardware Suppliers in the UK ?

Agreed on a massive range of stuff but I've found them to be pretty pricey for most items - I've found that these people are pretty good and keen on price https://ironmongeryexperts.co.uk

    Mobile Machine Base

Make your own - I have a mobile drill-press stand and a bandsaw stand - both are constructed to be at bench height for their tables and the base frames have storage space (the bandsaw has a Bisley multi-drawer steel unit built in which gives, obviously, lots of useful drawers but also some...

What do they call this and where might I buy one?

I've just got this little blasting gun from Temu - early days but it seems to work OK with my small Clarke compressor (had to get the blasting media - problastingsupplies.com - 25kg bag, carriage cost more than the stuff!)...

    Aliexpress Abranet discs

It says "Autonet" on the boxes - that's not the same product as Abranet. Autonet is for the motor trade. - whether it works on wood like Abranet I've no idea.

Einhell 2534 Dual mitre saw dust port

I think perceived wisdom is that dust collection on most mitre saws is poor at best - my saw is built into the benching and I made a shroud/box (which lifts off easily). The ducted dust extraction (Record Power) has a connection to the saw's dust port and, with a Y-piece, an open pipe sort of...

Request for advice - long fine furniture making course

Scott Brown Carpentry on YouTube has just done a 2 week course at a place in Nelson, NZ (just across the trench from you!) - there are a couple of films posted in the last 3 weeks - it looked pretty good, making a dining chair with lots of techniques and skills. I think they do longer courses...
