    Chest of Drawers

Yep - I have been stunned a couple of times with furniture which was in situ before some building alterations that looked as if they would hinder removal - the professional removal men took each item out at some speed with no problem at all (y)

    Structural doubt for tool stand

Not sure what I had when you came here - now have 2 off Van Nic Ti (tourer & road), PlanetX carbon road and Boardman Adv "motorcycle" - ebike with Fazua system (y)

    Structural doubt for tool stand

Precisely what I meant . . . although the angle cuts could be classed as luxuries!

    Structural doubt for tool stand

I agree with James - but what about just fixing 4 small blocks inside the frame above the wheel plates, glued and screwed to the base rails - then you have a bit more support and use a longer screw through the wheel plate. AND - again per James - from experience don't use wheels less than about...

Aldi DIY special buy sale 100mm disc/belt sander £50

Good value but from what I have seen of one in the flesh it's a bit flimsy compared with the blue Scheppach machine they sell at £100 which is much heavier construction (that's also been sold as Ferrex in the past)

DeWalt TSTAK VI Box almost half price at £22.99

Don't people use proper carpenters' wooden suitcase style toolboxes any more?

    Bright Coloured Dyes

This is the result - some panels in the coloured stain and some in wood colour stains (the latter being oddments I had on the shelf) The colours applied very easily and got into the wood - two coats were fine for what I was making, just a recalimed pallet - with a 2 coats of yacht varnish, and...

    Bright Coloured Dyes

I'll report back on them - I'm getting Poppy, Cobalt & Sunflower to stain some surfaced pallet timber for an arty "installation" in our garden . . . plan to stain some of the panels in the colours and some in various woodshades (Chestnut products) that I already have - and then yacht varnish...

    Bright Coloured Dyes

Have a look at AG Woodcare's Village Green Stain range . . . lots of colours (I'm going there tomorrow to get 3 small bottles for an experimental "pallet art" project)

    silverline 1/4" router bits

I'd describe them as "single-use" unless you're only routing balsawood! Very poor, losing the edge very quickly. Silverline seems to have a mixed bag of products (mostly re-badged copies) - some reasonable, some dire.

So it's back: Britain's Best Woodworker

It's the misquote in the title that annoys me - It's GLISTERS not Glitters - it's from Shakespeare

Kitchen cabinets - like no one makes em

Hmm - the products look quite good but to appear to be "solid oak" but not solid oak as one might expect - looks like loads of thinner than normal strips laminated together to make boards (a bit like Oak Furniturelan stuff) - rather than the more usual wider boards in oak kitchens?

So it's back: Britain's Best Woodworker

I don't think I can tolerate any more of the dreadful Mel the presenter - and the woodwork "ideas & projects" aren't a lot better. It's NO from me.

Kitchen cabinets - like no one makes em

Back in the 50s'60s/70s Liden Whitewood (in Lea Bridge Road, London E10) made kitchen and other furniture with frames and thin plywood - supplied un-painted. Liden was one of a large number of furniture makers in the E/NE London area - the North Circular at Edmonton was home to Nathan...

    Pallet Wood

I've made a few of the things he's done - it's satisfying and good fun . . . and if it all goes wrong all you've lost is time and some fixings/glue - rather than expensive wood.

    Pallet Wood

This bloke has something to say on the subject - and his pallet projects are pretty cool

    Pallet Wood

Yes - I make quite a bit of stuff* from pallet timber . . . but you need to be selective with the original pallets in terms of condition and how they are nailed together. Most are just machine nailed into blocks or wider battens but some have nails that are bent as they emerge from the slats -...

    Drill stops

The stops (or countersinks) that fix to the drill bit with a grub-screw into the spiral are unreliable, slipping and moving - the Rutland ones with a clamp force look like a better idea - worth a punt for a tenner?

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Storage unit with a drawer and pull-out tray next to our coffee machine (just the column to the left of the cupboard/bookshelf - they're repurposed from a base cupboard and dresser unit that were elsewhere in the kitchen) 18mm MR MDF, a length of new oak for the lipping and re-using bits of...
