Do drawer boxes require center support?

Given that width I'd be inclined to fit a brace - but nothing much more than a thin strip of timber glued all the way along the ply base and glued to the front/back .... and with a couple of thin pins. How are the drawers running - wood on wood, or some sort of metal runner? If the former can...

    Which Plywood for Bed Slats

I was going to say exactly this - having made quite a few beds anything else doesn't work as well/isn't as comfortable

    Pivot Door Prototype

I've always liked the look of pivot doors (although pivoting one way only makes more sense for a house) - the classic pivot door I remember from years ago was the massive red door at the Habitat shop in London's Tottenham Court Road - the height of cool in the 1960s/70s

    Stain Medite MR MDF black

Yes - a couple of coats of the ink, leave to dry thoroughly and then "sealed" with cheap acrylic varnish (really cheap, I buy it at B&M Stores!)

    Repolishing granite...

Down by the river - opened as a Hilton, became a Moat House then a Holiday Inn and currently a Crowne Plaza - but everyone still calls it the Hilton :) .... and Barry Bucknell . . . the BBC 100 years Harry Enfield spoof programme the other night had a clip of Barry "bringing a panelled door...

    Repolishing granite...

Ah, the Bulldog Bash site is no more - the airfield/drag strip etc is being slowly covered in houses - as is the adjacent army depot.

    Repolishing granite...

Ah - I'm guessing that would have been at what used to be called The Falcon Hotel - they specialised in military reunion events. It's now all changed into an expensive boutique-style place with horrendously expensive restaurant. The Brillo stuff really was quite remarkably effective on the...

    Show us your workshop stuff

Hmm - makes my recycled wooden IKEA shelf units and various kitchen cabinets (selected from several kitchens) look a bit basic 🤔

    Repolishing granite...

The advice I was given related to the surface/top areas with the Brillo stuff - although I did do the edge too (just a single run about 3m long x ~30mm.

    Repolishing granite...

STOP - don't use a mop/grinder or whatever - it will not work, it'll leave circular marks/scores - so I was advised by the supplier of our granite worktops* Our utility room has granite worktops that are at least 15 years old and were a bit dull. The advice when I enquired about re-polishing...

    Stain Medite MR MDF black

I've used Indian Ink as a black stain on quite a few types of wood - MDF needed to be slighly abraded for it to take. I only did quite a small piece, how it would fare on the area of an MFT I don't know. Upside is that it's very cheap :)

    Screwfix website not accessible

There was a notice on the home page about changes and some browsers not working - that first appeared about 6 weeks ago IIRC. Has worked OK for me - now with what seems a different layout on the home page.

    Sliding Disc/Belt Sander

Does it need a "mechanism"? - my disc/belt sander is pretty heavy and stays where you park it on the bench when in use (the movement is similar - just pulling it from against the wall to nearer the front of the bench) I guess if it did move in use then mount it on a board with an edge that can...

    Drawer slides

I've just finished a cabinet with slides under the drawers (actually shallow trays) using cheap as chips drawer runners from Screwfix - they work just fine.

    Thoughts on this.

Seems to be a solution looking for a problem - versus a disc sanding machine? BTW John Heisz (the YouTuber in the OP) is seen as a God by a lot of woodworkers . . . . I think that the jury is out on that. Our resident YouTuber @petermillard may have some views?

    Primary colour wood dye/stains

There was a thread her in a similar vein a couple of weeks ago - I suggested the Village Green range of water-based woodstains from A.G.Woodcare at Bidford-on-Avon - available in very small quantities and pretty inexpensive. I used 3 or 4 colours for a "pallet art" project with excellent...

Has anyone seen MDF like this?

@petermillard may have some ideas after his recent jaunt to the Finsa factory - which seems to make some interesting MDF products?

    Bedroom Panels & stuff

Looks great - as does the bed. Have a look at DIY Wife on YT - she panelled a room a couple of weeks ago, incorporating a door.

    Laying lino in bathroom

We had some expensive, heavy duty lino installed professioally in an en suite shower room (on 3mm plywood laid over the floorboards) - it was OK but after about 5 years did start to deteriorate . . . some cracking at the edges where the stuff did seem to be very brittle, as well as a few...
