Post a photo of the last thing you made

Precisely - exactly my original point - whether the site admins will/can do that to set as a default? - BUT it couldn't be simpler for the uploading member to set the "thumbnail" option as tyreman has done (a look back at any pix I have posted and I'm pretty sure they are all click thumbnails)

Post a photo of the last thing you made

The key point that started my comment was the need to scroll through yards and yards of enormous images where the "thumbnail" size would save scrolling mileage but still display the image content that can then be clicked on to see the full-size version/zoom in etc . . . if you so desire...

The resizing of images etc is not a problem for me - been doing that for 25+ years with lots of different progs - it's the forum s/w that I was referring to as not knowing how it worked.

I don't begin to understand the ins and outs, but several fora that I have been on in the past had automated limits on image file and display sizes (i.e. they change them to fit and, presumably, control bandwidth use) . . . the s/w that works this forum may have that feature, or something similar.

Err, yes - it was the vast number of images to scroll through that prompted my comment - although he's not the only poster with multiple large images. And to be blunt for a moment : I have less than no interest in turned/carved stuff . . . but do understand that other people do. Anyway, if...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A plea to posters . . . . posting full size images really slows down display and eats bandwidth, especially where a post has 6, 7 or even more images. There is an option to just post "thumbnail" images that can then be clicked to see the full-size image if the viewer so wishes - using that...

    STREtek poplar faced ply

It does seem that way from the comments here this morning and the searching I've been doing . . . . looking back the 18mm B/BB board I bought for the table (including cutting, I collected it) in July 2020 was £101 + VAT - today's price, with cutting and collection, is £211 + VAT. There is a...

    STREtek poplar faced ply

The current table may be for sale when I get around to making a the new, larger one . . . you know where I live ;)

    STREtek poplar faced ply

Absolutely understand in terms of the promo payments etc (it's very cheap promotion for suppliers - viz the EcoFlow power units that every YouTuber and his brother seem to have and rave about!) - BUT Robin Clevett does seem pretty genuine in what he does. I have yet to enquire about cost for...

    STREtek poplar faced ply

    . . . with the holes for the nails pre-drilled - obvioulsy!

    STREtek poplar faced ply

No - that would look awful - the whole concept is for bare plywood - which matches a couple of other pieces of furniture in the room. This is the table detail:

    STREtek poplar faced ply

Just been watching Robin Clevett with a project using this alternative to Birch ply - has anyone used it for furniture ? - I want to make a another dining table - simple construction with 18mm ply top and 100mm strips all round underneath to give a 36mm edge effect, on hairpin legs. Really...

    ALDI Ferrex Recipro Blades.

Hmm - if they're anything like other Aldi blades I've experienced they're "single use"

What is this guillotine type tool used for?

Sixths of an inch equates with "ems" - i.e. 12pt = 1/6 of 72 to the inch. Have to say I got all nostalgic about my time working "in the print" - I still use a "type gauge" - steel ruler to you, marked in points, inches and metric for measuring and as a straight edge.

What is this guillotine type tool used for?

More on the same theme - the image is from the Mortimer's Waistcoat Pocket Ready Reckoner I was given when I started work in the office at a City of London printer in 1963. Apart from stuff about type it had loads of tables for paper calculations (in the old Imperial sizes), proof correction...

What is this guillotine type tool used for?

Dunno who MM is - many were made by Caslon or Stephenson-Blake. In the picture it's missing a sliding end-stop to set constant length cuts (think of a mitre saw)

    Help with cyclone build

Ditto pretty much for my system with draught excluder seal and all edges silicone caulked on the inside of the box - it works! (The pipe curved behind the Henry is the spare Henry hose - the hose emerging from his nose goes over the top and powers the cyclone)

    Market cart

Can you design the frame to be able to use a long rod as a full width axle of some sort? If you have old-style cup and cone nutted wheels (not skewer) you could replace the wheel axles with a length of probably M8 (or perhaps M10) studding - that would give you stability for the wheels (You'd...

Braces (or suspenders if you must!)

Thanks for all the suggestions BUT they have all featured elasticated straps on the front - I specifically want non-elastic at the front, and a bit of stretch on the single strap at the back. The concept proven by my red braces from years back that were in this format. As I said up-thread some...
