    Wheelie bin dust collector.

Not a wheelie bin, but I added a plywood ring support to sit halfway up my drum extractor to try to reduce the likelihood of it imploding or splitting. I expect you could maybe just use two pieces of wood affixed as a cross to achieve similar for the square wheelie bin. As has been mentioned a...

    Axminster Table Saw Flatness

I'd be tempted to leave it alone, just wax the table which might slightly fill in the chip but it doesn't sound neccesary to repair it. If you do use something to repair the chip then presumably you will then need to rub down the compound you use to fill it

does the chip affect the use in any way?

    Bandsaw cutting

Like others have said, more information would be helpful - what wood, what is the purpose, how accurate do the chamfers need to be, what tools do you have etc etc. Could be done with a sander, hand plane, router, router table, table saw, bandsaw, depending on what you have available

Compressor advice for a total noob

I was in same position as you about 12 months ago, went for the draper small compressor and use it with the axi 23 gauge nailer, axi 18 gauge nail/stapler combo. I never realised that I would use it so much - really handy and to have an air blower attachment etc is so helpful around the...

    Router bits, which makes?

I like the whiteside bits which are USA made but available through routercutter.co.uk I find their website a bit awkward to use though so I tend to look on the whiteside website for what I want and then search for that directly on the routercutter.co.uk website

    Router Table Top Dimensions

Has anyone got one of the UKJ or Kreg router table tops. I'm thinking of making my own version but wondered if anyone could give the dimensions where the different T-tracks are located and where abouts the plate is mounted etc. Thanks, Sam

    Big Triton Router (TRA001)

Yes I really don't have anywhere else left in my workshop to store it! I have one cabinet which my smaller bandsaw lives on, I recently cleared out the cabinet contents, and i'm wondering if I could make a collapsible router table which would fit with the router in there. I'll have a measure up...

    Big Triton Router (TRA001)

ahh that makes sense. In which case it would be probably foolish for me to bypass it as I am unlikely to install a muscle chuck (as attractive as the thing looks on their rather nice website)

Best way to cut a 3mm sliver on a bandsaw?

You always set it up so that the dimension you want (in your case 37mm) of your desired piece is between the fence and the blade. So, in your instance, you want to set it up so that the fence is 37mm away from the blade. Bear in mind the blade will destroy about 1.5mm (called the kerf) as it...

    Big Triton Router (TRA001)

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't come across the 'muscle chuck' before but it looks quite handy (although at 3x the cost of my router it would be quite an investment). I will take your point on board about the plastic adjustment gears, do you know if replacements or spares for those are...

    Big Triton Router (TRA001)

I have managed to get hold of a very near brand-new TRA001, and the Kreg router plate for it. I paid £50 for them together which might be one of my best ever facebook marketplace finds! My first impressions are that it is absolutely massive, much larger than I had anticipated. I cannot...

new Axminster spiral cutter portable thicknesser

Using an impact to do that sounds very heavy and scary to me!! Very hard to control the level of torque applied during tightening so would be incredibly easy to over tighten them. Could you not just put a tiny bit of copper-grease or any other anti-seize compound on the threads before installation?

Anyone have an Axminster discount code?

    On the off chance! Thanks

new Axminster spiral cutter portable thicknesser

I always assumed that all spiral cutter blocks used TCT inserts. I wonder if you could replace the HSS ones it has fitted with TCT or not. Maybe it makes no difference.

Covering mineral wool insulation in loft

Yeah I don't really know why it's in the rafters. I do know that if I ever decide to do the same in a future house to use a foam board type of insulation rather than loose mineral wool!!!
