Paste wax or something else for an aluminium table?

Yes I made the mistake of using a silicone spray on my bandsaw table (also aluminium) before which transferred excellently onto the wood I was cutting. I thought the point in the paste waxes (and this liberon lubricating wax) was that they didn’t do that?

Paste wax or something else for an aluminium table?

I’ll give liberon a go then. Thanks

Paste wax or something else for an aluminium table?

I have a cheapo planer thicknesser which has a ground cast aluminium table, there is a funny texture on the table from the machining. I appreciate that rust is not a concern as with the nicer cast iron ones, but nonetheless, it does feel like it would benefit from something to reduce the...

    What Wood Is This?

Thankyou for your comments so far! I had a look through some photos from your suggestions and I wonder if it is cherry. It will have been an English tree cut down from the essex area as it was just a log cut up from some felling from my fathers golf course. I found this photograph on another...

Track saw rails . . . which one works for my saw?

The ones with the broader ‘rubbed’ low friction strips are of the 1500 Excel track, the ones with the smooth are the 700 track.

    What Wood Is This?

I wondered if anyone knew what wood species this is. It has a pinkish hue to it. (The ones on top in the photo with them stacked) Thanks

Track saw rails . . . which one works for my saw?

I'll take some photos and measurements today of the profile of my excel ones and you can see if that would match your macallister. If that seems ok then all i can suggest is when in stock buy one and see - worst case you have to return it.

Track saw rails . . . which one works for my saw?

I don't know if this adds anything to what you know already but yes the Excel 1500 and 700s are different, which is rather annoying actually! I was hoping that I would be able to join my 2x excel 700s to my excel 1500, but unfortunately you cant, they join differently. Both of them work fine...

First attempt at milling own wood

Bought a 4tpi blade from Ian at tuff-saws for my small-ish hobby bandsaw recently in the hope of trying to have a go at milling some wood from logs. It's all very small scale, but I wanted to see if it would be feasible for small projects. For example, if family member had to have a tree taken...

Cen-Tec Systems Extraction Hose and 'Quick-Click' adaptors

Mine arrived yesterday - made the mistake of ordering the one for numatic hoover fittings rather than the one with the plain end for my shop vac/cyclone… have to wait for the right one to come tomorow now. I did have a look at the fittings and they look good, the ‘click lock’ but looks a bit...

Cen-Tec Systems Extraction Hose and 'Quick-Click' adaptors

Planer Thicknesser is a special case and I plan to deal with that separately: I have previously hooked it up to the 100mm output direct from the shop-vac which has worked well, although then it fills up the shop vac and I don't get any of the benefits of the cyclone. 50mm is the output diameter...

Cen-Tec Systems Extraction Hose and 'Quick-Click' adaptors

That is good to hear! - My current hose, as good as it is, is quite flimsy and is liable to kink at the source if I bend it too much. How complicated is printing the adapters, is it something that you sell or just make them for yourself?

Cen-Tec Systems Extraction Hose and 'Quick-Click' adaptors

So when I looked at it I wondered the same, as I want a system where the hose can easily connect to all of my regularly used tools without too much faffing about changing connectors or moving the adaptors around etc etc. On the Cen-Tec website they list each connectors for sale individually...

Cen-Tec Systems Extraction Hose and 'Quick-Click' adaptors

Hello, Does anyone have any experience with any of the Cen-Tec stuff. It seems to be widely avaliable in america but also it is on amazon in the UK and europe. It seems to have fairly good reviews on there, and it doesnt seem too expensive. I only have a small workshop and i dont have the...

    Cutting on worktop/ blade clearance

I’ve seen people using a sheet of insulation foam as a sacrificial base, like a bloxk of celotex.

Lock out drawer slides or DIY mechanism

Base is a fairly solid cabinet which can easily take my weight (100kg) and a good amount more, so I think that will be OK. The slides I ended up buying are rated to 68KG, so hopefully that will be substantial enough. To put it in context the saw weighs 12kg itself.

Lock out drawer slides or DIY mechanism

So I looked into the Blum Tandem and Movento slides as they sell a lock out mechanism for that, but it worked out even more expensive. In the end I found a slightly cheaper version of what I was originally looking at on amazon Amazon Locking Drawer Slides. More expensive than I was hoping to...

Lock out drawer slides or DIY mechanism

Hi Colin, Thanks for your reply, i’m just not convinced that a detent would be sufficient - I am mounting a mitre saw on top of the shelf so it it moved during use it might be quite dangerous! Sam
