Cutting slot in 20mm Steel Rod

I completely agree that this would be ideal. I have done this for the rest of the fence but I was hoping these slots and a single hole I might be able to come up with a solution for. I am sadly a student at 29 so money isn't particularly forthcoming at the moment! I try and save where I can!

Cutting slot in 20mm Steel Rod

Rod is 330mm long. If this is something you might be able to help out and do then I could potentially post it up to you? Frustratingly I was in yorkshire only 4 days ago!!

I edited this reply as I realised after posting that you meant that you had printed the exact ones I am talking about and linked earlier. How well do you find they perform? Annoyingly I am going to have to step them down to 50mm as 50mm is the largest hose I can use with my cyclone...

Cutting slot in 20mm Steel Rod

I am making a fence for my newly restored planer thicknesser. As part of this I need to cut 2 slots exactly 3mm wide by 20mm in depth into a 20mm round bright steel bar. I also need to drill a single 8mm hole through the centre. I have attached sketchup renders of what I need to do. I have...

    Erbauer thickness planer motor.

Are you certain that it is the motor that is the issue?

    Erbauer thickness planer motor.

Have you taken it apart to see if the motor has any writing on it?

Well... I don't have the final price yet, but the estimate was £55 for both the planer port (30) and the thicknesser port (£25). He also printed the knob for the outfeed table I designed which I am expecting to be about £5 max. The bloke reccomended using PETG - I took his advice as ovbiously I...

    Cleaning rust off thicknesser bed

I have a £4 a month contract with my little 20w dehumidifier which I leave running constantly in my shed. I live 2 miles from the sea so humidity is an issue here anyway, thats before even considering the 'shed' issues of damp and humidity. The dehumidifier plus regular ACF-50 application to...

No, the one for planing has to fit under the machine and sit on the thicknesser bed to pick up chips as they come out underneath the cutterblock. The one for thicknessing has to sit on top of the cutterblock and also has a cutout to allow the wheel which is used to raise and lower the...

Interesting to hear regarding the snipe. I passed two 30cm long 2x4's through the thicknesser just to try it out and check the table was level at each end with the blade. Both pieces ended up with about 0.5mm snipe for 6cm at both ends. Passed them through a few times taking 0.5-1mm off each...

yeah that's where I got it from. Discussed with a couple of people who offered 3D printing services and they explained that it was too big for their printers but could cut it down. Eventually found someone with a big printer who could do it in one piece which I thought sounded best!

Do you want the files, for some reason I can't upload the .stl files but I can email them. There is also a set I found for the 635 which is just narrower.

Then finally, the fence. My machine didn't come with it's fence when I picked it up. The original was made from a piece of 4mm steel with a 90 degree bend at the top to give strength. I haven't the skills to do this, but I found a local engineering firm who agreed to make one for me if I...

For the dust extraction: I have the original extraction hood for planer mode, but it is a bit crude and being metal scratches up the thicknesser bed when installed. I was thinking of making something from wood until I found some files online for a 3D printable extractor port someone had made...

Put it back on the original stand temporarily for a test. Very pleased with how it is operating. Had the blades it came with re-sharpened as it turned out a lot cheaper than buying new ones (I hadn't realised that they are an unusual size). It will snugly fit in beween my bandsaw and chop saw...
