Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Here is my creation to press the bearing in. I have domed the middle of the underside of the wooden drift in order to be sure there is no force applied to the inner race when pressing. Currently it has an M8 bolt but I’ll use an M10. I’m intending to freeze the bearings before doing it, not...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Really cool to see your updates @Ttrees! My 16mm bearing arrived yesterday, I think I have absolutely everything ready now to start putting it back together. I didn’t have much time in the shed today but did manage to make a circular wooden drift for pressing the bearing in. I don’t have a...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I originally posted about trying to make the spacer, but it was always going to be difficult to make one at 2.0mm so I was pleased to find the shim washers. I don't think the wheel retaining bolt and washer was doing much on my saw - it certainly wasn't pressing the bearing in or anything. The...

    Bandsaw dust extraction

My bandsaw kicks its dust into the lower chamber, there's a port built into it. for extraction. If yours is kicking out dust from where youve taped your hoover, you could maybe try and cover that area to keep the dust inside the machine until it settles in the bottom chamber, and then add a dust...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

So, hopefully it is obvious from the drawings, but.... The original situation is that the 20mm spoke sits on the two bearings, both of which are 12mm race width. Between these two bearings is a spacer which is 6mm wide, made from steel tube which has a 21mm ID and 25mm OD. My proposal, is to...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I think i'm going to go down the option 2 approach - have ordered one of these 20ID, 42OD, 16mm race width bearings for it. KOYO BEARING 63004 2RS 20x42x16 Bearing 5059281004110 | eBay

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

So I'm all prepared: - Loctite 638 arrives at the weekend. - Cut 3 spacers from a length of 0.15mm feeler gauge, can just about fit them in with huge effort. By using 3 I can be sure it is central. - Made a simple jig to press the bearing out of a bolt and some bits of wood. In between the...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I suppose they would insert a thick enough bush to account for the need to cut the circlip groove. I do completely accept that this would be the optimum solution, and I will be willing to concede defeat and find someone to do it if my attempt is unsuccessful.

    SWA cable depth

I can't remember exactly but I think it was 32mm (like this).

I've just re-read this - what is the reason to remove the shims?

    SWA cable depth

I did exactly this about 18 months ago. My shed is 35m from the house and I ran 6mm SWA. I think I buried it 600mm under the grass, and 100mm under the concrete (which I then re-concreted over). I put the cable in conduit under the concrete in case I ever wanted to run any other wiring under...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

What is the thinking behind going for a slim bearing @Ttrees?. I have just purchased like for like replacements for mine (6004RS). I went for KOYO as that was the original and I understand they are a good brand. Sam

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I spotted these Speedi sleeves when I was looking at possible solutions over the past few weeks, think I might have put a link to one brand in a previous post. Trouble is they are all designed to be fitted to a shaft, so I’m not sure if I’d be able to use them the other way round by fitting them...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I don't intend on removing any material from the bore, just the bit outside the circlip to allow for me to insert the bearing with whatever shim material I end up deciding to use (and/or loctite). I agree that the lip will help to both center the bearing and stop it being pressed too far. I am...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Hi Thanks for this - makes sense. What is the point in me then removing the shim? I was thinking of using a piece of shim slightly smaller than 0.15 (say 0.10) to reduce the gap, and making it all easy to insert and then using this loctite to hold everything in place. You are suggesting that I...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Yes sorry I meant even with the bore outside the circlip enlarged. I plan to enlarge that carefully with a file. Am measuring the bore where the bearing seats based on feeler gauge that I can fit. I appreciate it's rough, but if my intention is to use them to repair the damage as well then any...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I'm quite concerned about being able to press in the bearing AND shim material together without them separating as I press. That's a potential solution which doesn't involve any need for shim stock at all. How would I ensure that the bearing is mounted centrally with the loctite compound? I...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I took out the bearing that was seated happily and the hub fits tightly on that side, it's a 42.00mm ID hub. The part of the hub on the outside of the circlips is also 42.00mm on that side. On the 'loose' side. The part on the inside of the circlips where the bearing seats (green mark) is...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Hi. It doesn't seem that there is any evidence of assymetry, it seems everything is centred. I don't understand whether the bearing groove is supposed to be there or not, it looks like it was machined like that? "I only opened out the "outer side of the circlip" to get the tool into the bore...
