Covering mineral wool insulation in loft

Never seen that no itch stuff - looks quite good! My rafters are already overspilling with the super-itch stuff so I don't think I have the room for that, nor the inclination to spend more on it than i need to. I'm hopefully getting some of the underlayment membrane on tuesday so all being...

Covering mineral wool insulation in loft

Good point! Landscape fabric off the menu then! Looks like i'm just down to roofing underlayment now!

    Permanent thread lock

You don’t use much at all either, so it will probably last you a while

Covering mineral wool insulation in loft

Yes, landscaping fabric might be a good idea, it is woven, so presumably breathable. I will see how cheap I can get hold of that.. I have scrapped the paper idea, as that actually sounds like an unnecessary fire risk! What drew me to that is that I could buy lining paper for £1.50 a roll of...

Covering mineral wool insulation in loft

My loft is insulated with the horrible fluffy glass wool Stuff. It is on the floor and also in between the rafters. I have boarded the floor over the insulation there. I want to cover the insulation between the rafters as the wool drops down onto everything in the loft and it is rather...

    Permanent thread lock

Honestly I have been astounded by the 638. The loctite brands are made by henkel, i'm not sure what the brand you have there is. Will be interested to see your experience with the 638 when you get it.

Poplar supplier near Brighton / Wood choice for face frames

I tried Wenban Smith but they only had some in their worthing branch and werent sure what they would have there! Also they seemed quite expensive! At this rate the face frames are going to be painted oak :ROFLMAO: I'll have a look around for beech locally maybe easier to come across. Thanks all

    Permanent thread lock

I bought 638 as I was bonding a bearing with a gap of 0.10mm (might not be that as the figure is from memory) and the data sheet says it performs well in that situation. Loctite publish all the data sheets so you can work out what’s best for your purpose

    Permanent thread lock

I used loctite 638 for some bearings recently. Since then I’ve had a few occasions where I wanted to attach a nut to some threaded bar and used it to secure the nut. I’ve been really surprised at just how good it’s been, copes with being tightened using an impact driver (not wrench) and socket...

Poplar supplier near Brighton / Wood choice for face frames

I am very keen to use poplar as I see it used all the time for this purpose and would like to have a go with it - but I cannot seem to find anywhere local to supply it! I live near Brighton

Poplar supplier near Brighton / Wood choice for face frames

So i was keen to use poplar but struggled to find anywhere local that sells it! Any timber suppliers in SE who sell it that you are aware of? Can I get away with using just redwood such as this https://www.mstc.co.uk/timber/sawn-joinery/25mm

Poplar supplier near Brighton / Wood choice for face frames

In the US they seem to use poplar a lot for face frames. I’ve got to make some cabinets, shaker style doors, and drawer boxes in the next couple of weeks. What wood would people recommend using for the face frames. Thanks

    Planer thicknesser blades

I usually get mine sharpened rather than replace, but do have a spare set. Looks like you can get new ones of your original dimensions here: https://www.toolite.org.uk/charnwood-w5881-planer-knives-15mm-p-56950.html...

    Dust extractor NVR switch

Trouble with this is that it cannot work with a NVR switch. I did debate doing this (unlike my chip extractor like being discussed here, my dust extractor is set up this way), however I was concerned that the chip extractor (which uses an induction motor = high starting current), is most often...

    Electric/small/portable air compressor

I have one of these, it's really rather small and perfect for my needs. I would'nt want to do any serious painting or anything with it, but you can get LVLP spray guns which apparently would work fine (although i have never tried)...

    Dust extractor NVR switch

I moved my NVR switch on my similar dust extractor from the machine where it was mounted originally, as the machine is in a cabinet but I wanted the switch to be accessible outside the cabinet. What I did is remove the NVR switch from where it's mounted on the extractor. I replaced the exposed...

Lidl Parkside Planer / Thicknesser - your opinions please

You will find loads of info about them if you use the search and type titan planer or Screwfix planer. When you read the things that people including myself have written about it on the forum though, bear in mind that the majority of people on here are used to high quality industrial machines...

Lidl Parkside Planer / Thicknesser - your opinions please

Same as the screwfix titan one - its OK but not up to any serious work. It is fiddly to adjust and set, mostly because the fence is actually terrible, but is fine for small pieces particularly what you are talking about with pallet wood where you probably don't need things to be 100% accurate...
